Mine sounds awesome and performes fantastic.
Sure I get the point - looking at the TRD stickered environment your filter lives in, looks and sound over practicality and function. I'll re-interate my point - service life is greatly inhanced if using the in boot ducting - that was my point
right,i just put on my universal air filter and it sounds lovely but the only worrying thing is that there was a sensor hooked up to it with pipes that suck air.what are they for and are they important,if so what can i do?
MR HT. I fail to see how a stock boot filter is more functional than an aftermarket hi flow filter. Also the sticker comments were un necessary.
Luckily we are not all the same an I wished to help people wanting to follow the cone filter route I chose to take.
Show me a pic of your engine bay so I can see what I can pick on.

With pleasure, your constructive comments are welcome
this is a cheap universal air filter tha just bolts on ,i took off the original air filter and the pipes were going into the back, should 1 of the pipes be in the back of my new 1?
Im sure the red leads are not the original colour.(But I like them).
You may benifit from a Jimi bracket or at least some lubrication on the throttle cable etc.
Apart from that its nearly as clean as mine. I find my airfilter hovers the dust up keeping the engine bay clean.
I take it you would not like my LED engine bay lighting.
Without a before pic its had to be precise. If they were in the airflow on the original system they need to be in the airflow on the new system. As I said before mine is a hybrid A setup and I only have one pipe in mine as the sensor is on the tvis. Have a look at my pics.
On the mk1b there are 2 holes in the back of a k&n, one for the air flow sensor and one for the vsv idle up. both of these need plumbing into the back of your universal filter.

Actually you don't really need the idle up as such.
