Hi All,

Well dropped the 2 off this morning with GTS-Chris.

Having the Apexi FC fitted and fingers crossed for dry weather tomorrow for the road maping :thumleft:

Hope to have it all done and sorted before the 19th as 2 will be off for a rolling road session at Evotune to find out the latest results

Cheers Craig

i wouldn't map it on race fuel unless you're gonna run it on race fuel mate :thumleft:

Hi Sheppy,

2 is being maped on V-Power mate.. I coulnt afford to run it on race fuel at £7.33 a litre lol!.

Race fuel is just going to be used as a little helping hand for the rr figures.

Let me understand what you're saying: you're going to map it on v power.

Then you're going to stick some race fuel in and run on the same map to try for a nice dyno graph?

I don't think you'll make more power on race fuel unless you map for it, but if you map for it you won't have a safe map for v-power :eye:

Hi Ashley,

Basically cylinder 4 is running around 30psi more than 1, 2 & 3.

Thought using VP fuel would help prevent det in cylinder 4.

I'm not expecting to gain any more HP just more of a helping hand to some safe power runs.

Do you know if the Apexi FC's support multi maps?

Not sure if PFC can hold multiple maps, but you could have them on your laptop :thumleft:

The danger is that if you are relying on race fuel to map you will need to keep using it to keep your engine safe afterwards.

Not a trick question, but why are you even considering putting it on the dyno with this problem? I'd be proper nervous of the whole lot going pop 8-[

Any idea why one cylinder is running so high, or is it the other three running low?

Hi Ashley,

Having one cylinder higher than the others only becomes an issue when it's unknown, and having it higher rather than way low is managable.

I'm guessing a carbon build up would be causing this.

I have had this happen on my previous project and we just maped it in with consideration and had the cover from a WMI kit.

30psi is not a major difference to cause concerns for taking the engine apart! Not yet anyways.

I'm just playing with it at the moment before it's off the road for winter plans! Then everything will be sorted out correctly.

Hi All,

Well since I have already let slip the winter plans I may as well say a full turbo kit has been bought.. Didn't want to say until it's hear but I should have it by middle of next week.

GT3582R Turbo Kit

GT3582R Turbo
Down Pipe
Mounting Flange
38mm Tial Waste Gate
Screamer Pipe
All The Water Lines / Oil Line etc

These kits are rated to 600hp but the aim will be 450hp - 500hp.

Will update with pics soon.

Hi All,

Update..

Picked the car up tonight from GTS-Chris.

The weather is appalling here which made a slow jaunt home! With no boost fun [-X

Chris has maped in two settings to the boost controller:

Setting 1 @ 1.3 Bar.

Setting 2 @ 1.4 Bar.

Will be heading for the rolling road session this Saturday so curious to see the results.

Edit: 17/10/13

Just ordered an oil catch tank and Greddy RS BOV (Adjustable).

Hi All,

Just got back from the RR session, Pretty disappointed to say the least.

The guy seams to think we have a fueling issue with the map hence the very poor results below.

Low Boost
Image

High Boost
Image

As you can see we're making less HP than standard on low boost and maybes 28hp more than standard on high boost!

To make it worse there was a Celica GT4 running standard ECU with the same turbo and made 338HP.

Comments welcome!!

Is the C20B normally that laggy (genuine question, I don't know)? I thought you'd be making full boost much lower in the rev range, you're not hitting peak boost until ~4.5k.

I'm totally guessing, but maybe an actuator problem (not closing fully or something), and you're losing exhaust manifold pressure?

When would you expect your set up to make peak boost, and what sort of power were you expecting? Does seem low for that much boost...

Hi Ashley,

Well based on that boost pressure 300hp should be within grasps.

We did think an actuator issue but it seams to hold boost ok.

The car is running way too lean! Very lumpy tick over and lumpy until 2K rpm. Going to have the map tweaked again and see what happens.

If we get the same results or similar the forge actuator will be getting replaced!.
