Yeah the Superdragger is mild steel.

I notice that the Berk and SuperDragger have hardly any bends in. My HKS Hiper had a complete U bend which must be quite restrictive?

Berk claim theirs is the only one that is a true 3" consistent bore through the whole exhaust. Not sure I believe that the others arent tbh though.

Fitment is important too and if an aftermarket company can make a unit fit better than the factory you then know you have some thing worth while!

My HKS S/D is going to last the life of my MR 2 it is dry garaged covered run fairly often, cleaned, polished, never driven in the wet and WINTER snow
and SALT!!! When will the HKS be replaced=NEVER!!!

ha ha ha he he he LMFAO   :eye: :oldtongue:

Oh the Berk wants to look like the HKS or the berk is a copy of the HKS not the other way round!!! :eye:  Still the Berk is new lets hear the feedack on them with time to follow? Like the BERK a lot! But I would

That's bang on the money. The intercooler looks just like the Greddy one too. They're doing what most people do, take the general best, copy it and try and make it cheaper.

I wonder how much of the price of the Jap parts is the OTT import duty tbh.

At a wild ratio guess top of the head at the most about 25-30% extra value duties? Maybe? :-k

I have a Berk system and absolutely love it. Miles ahead of the droning Mongoose it replaced.
It should last 20-30 years if I don't fix my oil pan leak, the nice mist of oil from the sump keeps the Berk well protected from the elements :)

The Berk is s/s so should last. The quality is also good. I think it's very good value for money.

I've seen those dep2 style exhausts on eBay but them backboxes in the v shape looks horrible- sits too low imo.

Guys dont mean to hijack the trhread here but im after an exhaust, but dont know what to go for?
Im after a twin exit, for a rev3 turbo. Not loud, and burbly type. i think the mongoose is close too the sound not sure :-k but i heard its very droney- thats a no no.

So to sum up, i want
1. twin exit.
2.mongoose size exit
3. not too loud, maybe mongoose notes but more racing orientated note.

Is there any out there? or am i being too picky,
Oh dont want to custom build coz i know jack about cars and price is a concern

Sorry again for the hijack

The mongoose sized exits are the only ones you will find that size without going custom......

If you like the stock looks you could just fit a decat downpipe to make it that little bit louder......

I would say the Berk exhaust is a good bet as it has smallish tailpipes and medium sound levels, not too loud and burbly....

Or there is the Blueflame system.......

You are allowed to be picky but unless you want big twin exits or massive single exits with more than a little noise then your low on choices...

If you want a smooth tone with no burble but a good bark when you put your foot down i would suggest mine, the Phoenix Power Departure II but they are pretty hard to come by second hand let alone new......
Plus they are BIG!!

Yo've made some good pointers and you seem to know your exhausts- your not the exhaust whore that everyone refers too are you

I really dont want too go too big on the exits, and when i refer to burble im sure you know what i mean but what i find really annoying is the ones you hear on the scoobys. when you plant it i like a nice composed tune. i suppose it asking alot for a small engine.

What size exit is the mongoose, is it 3.5?
And can you name me other models up from that, twin exit and size please? :thumleft:
i'll check em out in you tube, and see if i can gauge from there.
I think i heard a clip of yours?

I may be that very person!!

I posted up in members profiles under "exhaust whore strikes again".........

I have been through 9 exhausts on my MR2's and countless others on my previous cars

An MR2 will never sound like a Scooby due to the unequal length manifold piping......This particular style of manifold creates the "warble" tone that all scoobies have 8) There are maybe 1 or 2 that come close to sounding scooby like but most are just a smooth or harsh raspy tone......

Twin exits:

Mongoose - 3" or maybe 3.5" exits :-k with small rear boxes and 2.75" pipework, fully stainless

Motoria Twin - 4.5" exits slash cut fully polished but loud and burbly, fully stainless, 3" pipework

Rev 6 - 4-4.5" exits slanted downwards  Sounds great! Fully stainless

Apexi Supermegaphone: Twin 4.25" fully stainless with low noise levels

Berk - 4" exits fully polished 3" pipework, fully stainless

Blueflame - Much like the rev 6 system but with straight exit tailpipes, fully stainless

Fujitsubo legalis R - 4" straight tips with 3" pipework and moderate noise level, fully stainless

Phoenix Power departure 2 - 4.25" exits with 3" increasing or decreasing to 85mm or 65mm, moderate noise levels, part stainless, part mild steel

HKS Super Dragger - 4.5" exits, low noise level, part stainless, part mild steel

Greddy - Twin system i can't remember the name ](*,) but fully stainless and probably the rarest system around.....

Blitz Realise TT - 4" exits.....don't know much about this one...

Here is a video clip of mine revving......Do you want it louder or quieter than this??? Looking smaller same size????

I'd probaly look at the KO Racing exhausts, I think they do a variety of size boxes and pipes that can accomodate different tastes of sound.

Well yeah that will be one of the reasons, but you did ask which exhaust is deamed as light.

Which exhausts are deemed to be light btw? The HKS I just threw away weighted a bloody ton and was only a single exit system.

Check my garage. Fujitsubo RM01-A. According to their website it only weights 8.7Kg

Thank Alex, a comprehensive list there with good info :thumleft:

The noise levels in the vid sound quite nice actually, i do like discretion but it does look awesome.

Gana sit down and have a hard think bout it.
I would go for the mongoose, nice tone discreet. but just too droney...but then i dont really do long journey so may be a possibility.

I'll let ya know :thumleft:

My opinion is that that HKS exhaust was probably 10 years old .Thats a pretty good run for a mild steel exhaust

I have got an Apexi GT .loud ?? Yes you bet it is ,but genuine 3" all the way through ,and fully stainless ,Plus it sits well under the back of the car ,Not to low

departure 2 ,i wouldn't have ,sits too low
Buddy club ,why bother at all ,people seem to pay over £300 scondhand for what is essentially just some 3" piping welded together with a japanese name on it

Hks superdragger ,Very nice but i bet it has a very nice weight to go with it

Motoria Twin exhaust ,Had one very nice quality ,nice noise ,very light
aswell ,but just hung too low

Mongoose .Had one but just too dman droney at 60mph

I have considered a Berk ,but the fibreglass wadding baffles put me off ,no reason ,i just " think " they could get blocked and cause problems down the line

I am of the opinion though that if it is JDM that everyone thinks they are superior quality .I bet there is as much aftermarket crap coming out of japan than there is in this country

Hi chap,

The twin exit Legalis R isn't full stainless, the midpipe is mild steel. I know this as mine rusted to bu88ery and I had to import another one from Japan!

Very nice exhaust though! :thumleft:

Love the Apexi GT had the N1 perfect in every way the only side exit I would ever consider! :+:

Out of interest if a fabricator made you up a 'PIPE' in mild steel say 4-5-6"
say the last foot being 6" would one need a flexi-part? Wonder what they would charge and how long to make up? Oh no baffles just a PIPE?
