Righty, just seen this.

.

.

so you're the cheeky b*****d.

.

.

(Just to explain, I was holding off as the MOT for the daily driver is this week, I wanted to get that done before buying an SC.

My Dad persuaded me this morning to

"just sodding go for it".

Get back home to an internet connection and it's already gone.

.

.

You snooze you lose, eh?

)

Well, congratulations!

Just so you know, I drove the car before Steve

(current seller) bought it back in November.

It is in good condition, for

£2495 you got a bargain.

However, from memory you're probably going to want to give the suspension some attention over the next year or so,

(it was planted to the ground, but the steering didn't feel that.

direct.

.

.

Guess it could be the wheels) but all in, the car seemed pretty straight.

Of course, that was seven months ago.

.

.

Right, insurance.

A-plan, Thatcham branch is a good idea.

If you can, speak to Carly, she's very helpful, and I think given the amount of times I've now called her for a quote she probably knows a bit about Mk1s.

.

.

(One of these days I may actually get my insurance through them just to put the poor girl out of her misery!!!)

T-bar seals, Get a silicon lubricant spray from Halfrauds,

(or motor factor/internet/ebay.

.

.

) Remove the T-bar panels, spray silicon lubricant lavishly on the rubber seals.

.

.

make sure to put a cloth or something underneath where you're spraying so that you don't spray inside the car too

- oh and try not to spray on the paint either!

(It doesn't damage paint but is a bit messy!)
Leave it open for as long as you can to

'soak' into the rubbers.

Then, using an absorbant cloth, wipe off any excess so that your panels don't get too mucky.

.

.

That's helped mine so far.

Also, do the rubber on the glass panels themselves

- on the edge where the window comes up into contact.

Again, leave to soak, wipe off excess.

This is where most of the leaks begin.

.

.

Enjoy! You'll love it!

Can't wait to see it again at some meet! It's definitely distinctive with those wheels and that plate

- when I first saw it up for sale I recognised it pretty much instantly!
