Good effort!

Just a comment... I was told by my mechanic to avoid painting the engine black as when there is a small leak...it's bloody difficult to see where it is coming from.

Just my 2p, Black has the positive effect of looking nicer for longer, hides the inevitable dirt and muck ;) Oil leaks will show up on the floor, if they are bad enough to be seen on paint, they will find the way to the floor soon enough.

Oil, in my experience, is easy enough to spot, even on Black.

Each to their own I guess ;)

Keep up the good work, I don't think I love my MK1 enough to undertake what you have!

This thread probably seems hugely boring next to Mr Woods V8 Special, of which I am too in complete awe of!!

But just to keep the updates running as they have done over the last couple of years heres the latest snaps from the body shop. All cosmetic filling has now been complete and this is the 2 of 4 primed coats.

I am not sure if this is a standard practice or not but the body shop I am using applys a coat of primer then a dust of black paint so that when he rubs it down in between coats he uses the back as a guide that he has rubbed every where!

I'm told I can pick the car up back in its original Silver next weekend woohoooo!

The best body shops do that with the back over the primer so they cane check for inperfections, It means you get a blooming fantastic paint job when all is is done,

Its looking great mate you wont wanna drive it in ther rain ever again or in a couple of short years all your hard work will be starting to rot again :(

Well sometime anyway I suppose ,but Ive been following your thread and I think you have done a spot on job so far .
