Raf,

My stance is you have to give the seller time to properly respond, there may be a genuine problem. Once you have all the facts and come to either a dead end with the seller or paypal have finished their investigation then any user is free to post a factual account of the transaction. Also please note I am only one of the admin team...I look after the site but IMOC has a team for all admin.

Raf wrote:i have been told by paypal that if the seller doesnt respond to them in 10 days i will get a full refund (£170).... However there is a problem with sellers on here and PM's dont help. Someone suggested sellers pay up first in order to advertise- great idea! PM's are a bad idea for this very reason... too many people can get stung by one seller if there is no transparency!

I do not think a problem with one or two sellers mean we have a problem with sellers on the site. Having people to pay to advertise is not going to happen...sorry...firstly I do not want to ruin it for all genuine sellers, plus there is the technical side to it.

I would advise any user to do a bit of research before they commit to a sale...look at previous posts from the user.. ask the community has anyone bought from them...use a escrow service if it is a big purchase.

I hate the fact that people have been burned, but at the same time we can not let people post as soon as something does not turn up when the seller said it would.

sorry i didnt want to generalise on all sellers; i just worded it badly  i know that most are genuine sellers but you do have alot of newbies who join to sell.

i did.... well i didnt ask anyone about this person but i had his ebay ID etc etc and also from his initial emails he sounded like a genuine guy... i know this bit is my fault but i guess im too trusting (as are alot of people)

i know what you mean and thats why i only complained to paypal yesterday (2 weeks after the goods were supposed to arrive). i havent as yet named him and i wont until Admin agrees and because there could be a genuine reason like you say. However since the transfer he hasn't replied to any of my emails- never been back on IMOC (i dont think).... maybe im a bit p!ssed off cos i had to fork out again for the bits i needed yesterday. But yeah i do agree with you; consider it a rant!

Raf,

My post was not giving out or annoyed in anyway at you...

I hope that paypal sort you out and you come back and post all the info.

We (admins) talked about setting a post count required to post in that forum, problem is any seller could talk crap in the off-topic and then post in the for sale. Trust me it is something we will keep an eye on.

Did you use your credit card to fund the paypal payment ? If you did just phone the credit card company and they'll refund your money no problem. Paypal is useless at getting money back IMO

Yep sure did - yesterday I instructed my cr card company to take up the complaint for me and get a refund from PayPal.

Hopefully that will be the end of it.

the User "biteme" even though he repsonded on this thread has refused to contact me direct... I gave him 2 weeks grace but now i've gone straight to thc Cr card co. as you are quite right PayPal are hopeless when things go bad.

warning for all - always use a cr card if using Paypal / ebay etc etc

or cash \:D/ , I have always been looking buying in the forums but usually only deal with collection and give cash, safest  if I sell something also either deliever in person ( just like take tubby for a drive) or use postage with tracking so both side can see when it left me and compare it (it no good to someone if the say they send it and no proof to it I would rather paid or charge extra for the tracking) this way you can spot doggy deals
