If the mr2mk1club start their own forum on their website then i think that most of the mk1 owners will join it. But i cant see the mk1 club making their own forum tbh. Technological wise the club still seems to be in the late 80's

Keep it to debating nicely people, no more teddies and prams!!

Paul I don't think we have MK2 tinted glasses, have you ever thought why we asked the MK1 club? Think about it - five out of the 8 committee members are MK1 owners!!!!

The MK1 Club is a great bunch of people and personally I really like them being here, I appreciate people might have a perception of polarisation but I really think it is for the good of both clubs!! We share resources but each have our own individual identities, no bad thing in my book.

Nice idea Esmond btw.

You have a point, and probably one of the reasons why we do have so many flippin' MR2 clubs. Remember a few years back when someone set up another MR2 club/forum after buying a Mk3? MR2racing.co.uk or something like that.

Anyway...going back to the discussion, as much as it annoys me that there are so many / too many MR2 clubs, I doubt very much if anything is likely to change in the near future. Perhaps in twenty year time when 90% of the MR2s have been smashed up and there's a vasty reduced userbase, the clubs might 'merge'.

*runs off to start a another MR2 club*
Mk2 NA Rev1 -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev2 -*- Mk1 NA -*- Mk2 Turbo Rev 3 = all gone!

Think of it this way, on the Ford forums, do you think there is anything in common with the people who like the Mk2 Escorts (RS2000 etc) and the Mk3/4 RS1600i and Turbo models?

Even though they are the same "name" the purchasers are dissimmilar enough to not have the same forums.

I think that it will never work to hold mk1 and mk2 MR2's together, they are simply not similar.

I can expand the idea if you like, but surely you get what I mean?

As technology allows the split to be easy, it will happen... and oh look - it is happening!

Ok, the mood/feeling I get from posting on IMOC is that there are a few members who believe themselves 'above' everyone else, hence my reference to the "nazi's". They are usually joyless dictators who wade in and generally cause friction on threads with unfriendly, blunt, or non-lighthearted comments which invoke strong responses resulting in arguments.

That's all!

By all means elaborate via PM. We certainly wouldn't like to give that impression.
