Yes it is a hydraulic handbrake, but instead of it having its own resivoir it'll be plumbed into the brake line

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Glad to have a few pieces of history going onto this current car.

Anyone guess which car they came off?

Driveshaft shop shafts and bearings

They look like Baumgartner's wheels Nath.
Not sure on the other parts.
Presumably the same?

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
It's been a busy couple of weeks for the build, with lots of progress made.

First up, big thank you to Carbenfibrecreations for their sponsorship and support with supplying lots of fibreglass goodness for the car.

Wings, bonnet, doors.

I trial fitted everything and as always with his stuff, it was a perfect fit.

We then had to continue with the prep of the car, and get creative on the 1/4 panel.

Thankfully, my good friend Allan was there to help with the panel beating.
After a lot of work, we got there.

Quick bit of primer

The car is having its final day of prep tomorrow, ready for paint next week

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Then on Monday lots more goodies arrived.

A lovely drag specific gear set, and a sequential shifter from the lovely folk at SQS.

If anyone is interested in these kits, we are now dealers for them, so please get in touch.

It's a real work of art.

Custom made cables for the mr2

A feat of design and engineering

Then arrived an exhaust collector from Kakarakis exhaust fabrication.

I have a flange made for the head, and I will make a jig for the collector and flange, then send back to Greece for these guys to make me a bespoke manifold for my application.

And the turbo arrived from the good guys at DP engine parts.
An older turbo, but great for my application.
Specifically designed for high boost.

And finally a pic of all the bits that arrived from Hux racing in the states too.

They have been a big help on bespoke stuff I've needed for my motor.

It's great to have other companies willing to help out with this project.
It's going to be special once finished.

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
After deliberating over bodywork I came across a Kei Office front bumper.
It looked perfect for my needs.
Was nice and low, and I had a good idea for it to reduce lift and drag.

We got to work by fibreglassing up the side vents.
.
.
.

Then added a skim of fibreglass filler, then body filler after

The end result
- not as good looking as the original, but from an aero point of view, much better.

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Are you doing the roof the same colour?

It's such a nice colour I'd think it would look better if the whole car was the same colour.

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
That's the finished shell in the pictures.

We did toy with the idea of 100% purple, but decided to keep the original choice.

There probably isn't another MR2 in the world with this colour combo, and that's what we are after

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
I'm not a fan of the black roof
(reminds me of sonic shadows which make me want to scratch my eyes out) but that purple is stunning! Excellent work

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
I can't say I know what sonic shadows is, although it sounds like it's a good job I don't!

Been waiting on a few bits to come back from powder coat before I could really make any progress on the car.

I've managed to sort the inner arches out with a bit of black and a few other bits.
Now I've got the power coat bits back, progress can be made a bit quicker

Hux racing wishbones

Electric throttle pedal conversion.
Thanks for Ashley

And finally a bit of a custom job making the fuel pump fit to the end of the camshaft.
I utilised part of the distributor housing for this

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Looking immense!!

You should consider ditching the heavy front bumper bar I reckon.

I did last time around, but not this time.

It's weight exactly where I need it, and it'll add safety if I get into an unfortunate situation

Re: Century Motorsport Drag Car Build
Fair play- I figured you could knock something up that would give enough protection, with about 10% of the weight.
.
.the frunk is a massive crumple zone afterall
(unless you fill it with a fuel cell of course!)
