Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.

Gazza - no one mentioned Mazda calipers and a set of Carbotecs pay for a lot of brackets and spacers leaving change (almost) for a set of OEM pads
Impressive video Bob but er how long were you on the brakes for? No wonder you can use rev1 brakes and not have any issues, less than 40 seconds a run and having an uphill slope to help with the brakes. Folks in the US (and some in the UK but like me they cannot be bothered arguing anymore though I bit this time for the sake of the OP) had your exact same arguments, then went track racing and came a cropper after 2 laps as their brakes melted but again, since you've had no problems you know best and the rest of us are wrong.
No very long on the brakes at all but it is full braking, they have to stop or you are in the wall.
With my Rev 1 I did a lot of track days at Goodwood with the stock brakes and the Porterfield pads, never a problem the brakes just worked every time, and that is a very fast track.
With our cars now, we do say 20 miles racing a year, the rest of the time the cars are left outside, in the spring we clean off the rust on the disks and go racing, never having any problems with the calipers seizing up
The problem with a mid engine car is the rear brakes do 40% or so of the braking so if bigger brakes are needed get them from another mid engine car, much better chance of them being balanced.

Also the pedal feel is nicer.
No big brake kit is going to reduce the stopping distance, thats mainly down to the tyres you use.
I feel like I should give the WMS kit a try, but then I think my car stops faster than I think it is going to anyway so I need to brake later first, and I am unable to get my head round that so far.

I always feel like i'm braking too early, I think I need to get some more practice and instruction
Also the wms caliper shares pads with a willwood one and the porterfields also come in those sizes.
I had lots of problems with seized calipers on my old 2, but I was racking up stupid miles in it in all weathers.
My current one I had one of the rears seize, even though 99% of the time its just been sat around parked without the handbrake on.

Isnt the front caliper the same as some MKIV supras on the 205?
I am sure they will make them just have to find out what the car is called in the USA

Are they imported then Bob .. my carbotechs were .. no problem with that
All you need is a set of carbotech pads and castrol srf brake fuild allround on oem calipers just make sure u have good disc like dba.
Bigger brake kit are nice but yes i totally agree the braking bias is bad if only fo the front.
Dust who cares just take it to the car wash or use meguiars wheel cleaner or carb cleaner to get it off.

The ST205 GT4 wasnt available in america, they only got the fwd versions which doesnt have the mega brakes.
Like bob said though if you can find out the sizes they can probably build you a set. You never know i'm sure there are some gt4 owners who might want some!
