Just to add my two pennies. I brought last week Friday a 1992 Rev 2 T-bar Turbo. Its Standard apart from the wheels and a boost gauge and drilled brake disc, it even has the roof covers for the t-bar to make the head lining all grey and the t-bar bags. The car as only had two owners since imported the last owner having it 12 years. It has a stack of paperwork and not one spot of rust. The only things i have had to do is replace a leaking hose £4.99 and temp sensor Switch. The paint work has dulled in places as its red but i have mopped its and polished its and unless your within 3 foot of it, it looks mint. The engine pulls fine in all gears, i'm running standard boost 7 psi. The only thing i may do is Add an after market Air Filter and exhaust when i can afford and maybe turn the boost up to 12 psi.

I think its not the age of the car its how its been looked after. and you have to do your homework and be willing to travel. I got mine for £1100 and am confident I could ask for £1500 and get it or very close to its. I could have spent £2500 - £3000 on a later model but with this cars history I feel i have a better deal and Money left over 1. should anything go wrong and 2. for any modifications.

DON'T LIMIT YOURSELF

Thanks for the input. I have no problem travelling to get the car. I drove 200 miles last time to get my 306 D-turbo. I have a car trailer too so doesn't need tax.

Sounds nice, but one observation:

7psi is stock actuator pressure, so either the stock boost control valve has been bypassed/disconnected/broken, or an aftermarket boost controller has been fitted and set to 7psi. Have a look at the small ~8mm hoses connected to the turbo/actuator/boost control valve (located under inlet manifold) and check all are in order.

To keep it in a non rusty state I would look at removing the 'foam block of death' from behind the seatbelt trim pieces ASAP, and get the sills/rear arches internally blasted with some sort of cavity wax, like Dynax S50. If you don't do this and use it in all weathers it WILL sucumb to rust at some point.

Just found this one on ebay, can't afford it right now, but would you say that was a good example? Anything fishy about the advert. Seems like a legit seller.

I like the wheels and the exhaust. Not too OTT, nice a subtle

So happy, just got a quote for £890 from Adrian Flux. That's with a stainless exhaust, dump valve, cone filter and alloys.

Never thought I would get it that low...

Take it you're running it as an only car?

If you're running it as a second / weekend car look into classic policies - £200 a month for 3k miles a year.

It will be my daily driver and weekend car.

I only do about 3k miles a year anyway because my work is only 10 mins down the road 8)

Waaaaa??? Why would I do that if I am getting it for £74 a month
