What time do I need to be there for tomorrow? I was thinking of arriving circa 10am - but was also considering my options for a lye in!!!!!!!!!

Bit of a late response, but I'll try to be there later. I am viewing a house in Northampton at 13:30 and may limp the car to malory park after as it's not too far away.

What a great day, the mk 1 club were extremely welcoming, (even to a mk2 owner ) Many thanks for the burgers and the conversations throughout the day.

What a fantastic day out! :D

We had a great turn out of 23 cars :D. This consisted of twelve Mk1 a's and b's, nine Mk1 Superchargers  and two Mk2's.

Image

And add in the sixteen racing Mk1's and single racing Mk2, that's an awful lot of MR2's!

Image

The committee did a fantastic job of keeping us all fed and watered. And the racing was great too. 90/1000ths of a second separated pole from second and the rest were very close behind. The racing was really close and I am thoroughly hooked! (Here's a pic of the winner coming through Devil's Elbow)

Right, plans to build myself an MR2 challenge car start tomorrow....

Just back from a fantastic day @ Mallory Park. As Tom said 21 MK1's and 2 MK2's on the Club stand, excellent. Fred and Mac did a great job setting up the pitch even if it was a little cheeky roping off half the car-park..! The man with the walkie talkie wasn't impressed, he who dares Rodders..!

Brilliant racing and the MR2 Challenge was the icing on the cake, this event really should have an even bigger following.

Tom them pictures above look brilliant, can we have some more posted please. Looking forward to Cadwell Park's round later in the year.

Thanks everyone who made the effort.

I didn't make it in the end as dinner plans kinda developed with a stunning girl 8)

But now after seeing the photos I am quite gutted I didn't take the challenge over the girl

Keep us posted of the next one and possibly get even more MKI's up to support the racers 8)

Thanks Mk1 Club for making a non-member welcome. Great burgers :)

I'll be signing up shortly!

Great to see so many SC's making the trip. Surely that's a record for the UK?

Thanks for coming and supporting

Big thanks to all those who made it to mallory.

It was good to have so many supporters there, we're slowly winning the battle to get these standalone races. Its so much more fun racing with just the 2's on the track without the worry of having a noble and a morgan up your ar$e after 3 laps.

Hope you enjoyed it.

What a brilliant day out! Was a fair old trek down from the North West - but was great, and well worth it.

Will definately be at the next round, where I am sure we can expect even MORE people!!?

Just a reminder that the next round of the MR2 Challenge is at Silverstone on Sunday 28th August. Anyone going along? No Supercharger or MK2 this time though. Richard Morgan

Guess again...

I'll be there in my mk2, but I don't know about Steve and his SC. I know it's due to make an appearance again at Cadwell, although with a different driver. I'm very interested to see how it fairs on a more technical circuit - I was half a second quicker at Mallory!

Patrick, do you know if Steve has sorted out that hopeless intercooling system yet?

I don't, although I did offer him some advice based on my knowledge of airflow in the mk2 turbo. I definitely think a duct pointing towards the rear with a Spal fan above it would be better than the current attempt, which runs counter to the MR2's intended airflow.

A chargecooler would be optimal, but I think even the mods he's carried out would be disallowed under the current series philosiphy.

The whole thing is bonkers!

He's got a duct underneath the car driving air into the engine bay and one on top of the car (where's theres normally negative pressure) trying to counteract the airflow by forcing air back in from the top!

To cap it all the intercooler isn't even sealed to the engine lid. I literally put my hand through the gap!

I really think he should put some thermocouples in there to see what's going on, like this:

http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/tom ... p_Mon.html

Get rid of that silly deflector and make a proper rear facing duct and seal the intercooler lid properly, this is how I did mine:

http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/tom ... e_lid.html

I expect he is losing tonnes of horsepower at the moment....
