would actually say on the road a bike is quicker, simply because they have better opportunties to pass traffic.

but it all depends on traffic conditions, roads etc. it is a never ending arguement.

10k in pocket - that's because the costs of bikes is sooooo much cheaper.
look at a 200mph supercar.
look at a 200mph bike.
price differential is massive

On a track such behaviour would get you black-flagged. On a road you'd be stuck in 40 mph traffic behind a caravan anyway, and in an actual track race it would never happen cos bikes aren't allowed to race cars.

I fail to see your point. Cars corner better than bikes, that's it, it's a fact. No more, no less. Get over it :)

so the tests that auto car and superbike did were made up to lie that the bikes could turn harder than cars?? I agree to disagree cause my fingers are sore from typing

I can't comment on something I haven't read.

The physics involved in cornering a bike are totally different to cornering a car, theres a lot more to it than just tyre contact patches, gyroscopic effects start coming into play.

I guess that's true.

Doesn't change the fact that cars corner better than bikes :D

Aidy have you ever even ridden a bike? I bet not!! As was said before it hurts like hell if you come off. I have been knocked off into a road sign and smashed my right femur so my leg was off in a funny direction.Trust me when i say i would never do anything that i thought was too risky on a bike. A car on the other hand is a nice safe haven where you can push it out of shape just for fun

I know for a fact that on an average road i could beat almost any car on almost any bike just because of traffic not holding me up. A car can enter a corner faster but the bike more than makes up for it on exit! I have caught and overtaken all sorts of "super cars" Its really not that hard. On a closed track it would be much closer though.

P.S on some tracks Rossi has gone faster than the F1 boys so there \:D/

still looks like a monkey though :D

I fail to see the relevance of that. I have driven neither an F1 car or a Robin Reliant however I feel qualified to say that the F1 car is faster around a track.

> As was said before it hurts like hell if you come off.

I bet it is. However the Top Gear test (as already said 100 times now) was two pro drivers going for it on a closed track. It was a pure test of car vs bike and the car won.

Not according to the Top Gear test.

> On a closed track it would be much closer though.

Yes it was very close, but the car won. Again I say for the thousandth time we are not talking about what is faster on track but what corners faster. I don't give a crap about bike's straight-line grunt or falling off...cars corner better than bikes.

Have to say i rather like bikers. they seem to be a far more united bunch than car enthusiasts in many ways. I like their passion. Mind you i might like the leathers as well. :P

lol, you make a point but i say, men in leathers,,,, no, girls in leathers ammmmmm yes

It was also Bikes Aloud that conducted the same test and the bike won.

Lets face it guys, its never going to get an agreement.
A track does not constitute road conditions.
Ok, a car 9/10 will probably corner better than a bike.
But for getting somewhere quick, I cannot beat my bike.
No traffic worries, good fuel economy and bloody fun!

I just been looking at the test done by 5th Gear - Gallardo v ducati. The ducati won.
It also compared their respective laps and it looks dead evens on the mid corner speed to me too.

Bikes 2:1

I agree, dont think getting from A-B you can beat a bike either.

I dont think many a car will be keeping up with a commited rider on a superbike in the corners.

Look FFS how many times does it have to be said? A car corners better than a bike. I'm not talking about tracks, A->B, normal cars, sports cars, yadda bikes, getting through traffic blah blah. We're talking about performance cars vs performance bikes.....cars corner better. That's it, it's a fact.

Geez, why is everyone on here so damn insecure and defensive?
