On the subject of brakes, can anyone recommend a decent rear brake pad? For some reason my blueprint rear pads seem to have glazed slightly and one of them has a chunk of material missing - thought the braking went off slightly after the last 20 laps :)

Neil, try some Pagid Fast Road pads from Fensport - they'll be soooo much better than blueprint pads

I deny any and all involvement with said picture - I will call my lawyer if this slander continues ! :)

LoL!

There's no mention of racing either or trackdays.

basically (dare i say obviously) motorsport would seem to be the appropriate umbrella heading to encompass all of the above and drag racing too.

For reference it says "Posts about trackdays and motorsport" - pretty much covers it all IMO.

Neil, i'm deeply hurt at these comments...... you used me!!!!

Thanks for the knighting J, you wouldn't have said that if you seen me at the drifting competition last weekend, I done crap!!

My exhaust leak has gotten so much worse now, I think my HKS B pipe needs to be replaced as it's leaking badly just before the flex section. I've never had an Mr2 that I didn't have hassle with the exhaust on!!

Everywhere I looked at Donny somebody had an exhaust leak, it was like somebody was trying to rub my nose in it or something!!

On the rears yeah, when I very first got the car the rear pads were totally worn so I got a set of blueprint for about £12 from my local parts guy - then upgraded the brakes with the HiSpec kit, front callipers DS2500's but kept the rear callipers - never got round to swapping the pads :)

I will call Fensport in the morning :)

Donington :D

I had an excellent day out and was please to finally meet a few guys: Dan (hedgehog dodger), Neil Johnson, Pete Carrick, Patrick from Rogue……….+ all the others I not got time to list, wish I’d had time to socialise a little more but I was hell bent on getting my hundred and sixty quid’s worth of trackday time :) would have liked to have a run out in a few cars particularly Petes super drift machine. By the time we got finished up and went to the services for coffee I was ready to drop, the 4.30am start time to go collect Steve Cordiner plus the 2.5hours drive still ahead, was starting to catch up to me.

My black GTS was left a home (in bits as usual), I ran my newly purchases Rev3 GT Red – totally standard!

Lessons learn:

1. Standard the SW20 turbo is a very capably car dumped onto a damp race track.
2. Nankang tyres on the rear and yokohama 520s upfront will lead to a natural oversteering situation beyond all expectations.
3. Not all MK1s are mobile chicanes.
4. The old hairpins not the best part of Donington to try to pull a gap on a R33 GTR
5. Big brakes and competition types are the way to go for the trackday edge.

I got some great in car video footage, I put on my website once I get my PC sorted out, thank to Micheal Canny for his out of car camera work (no thanks for the usless bit of footage of the boeing 737 :) )

That would be me I guess :D
I was very nervous around there, I'd spun it earlier in the day and didn't want to bend the turbo nutter barge :) :)

Ahem, I do remember a certain amount of pressure leading to the nankangs finally losing traction on the fender bender corner (still feeling guilty, sorry!!)

Dont skylines have computers that do the difficult driving bits? So really your car spun itself and it wasnt your fault :)

LOL, not quite true. V-specs and non-vs are very similar, the only real difference being they check for slippage 1/100ths of a second, and the non-vs only 1/10ths of a second. But in all honesty there is no difference in feel or performance for the 'average' driver...that'll be me then! :)

I did spin it, but I think it might have had something to do with an involuntary foot twitch, the trick with these critters is to keep your foot buried no matter if you feel the back end coming round, to have the courage to do that takes some practice...!

Interesting - well you learn a bit more everyday! I have heard about the need to push you foot through the floor as instead of doing the evo trick of bringing it back in line, the skyline likes to help you do 400m power slides - with you just holding on for your life! :D
