Further to MSN chat, this is an earlier post from Chris:

Mk1Chris wrote:No worries about tools. I have an engine crane, compressor, ten tonne press, generator, full selection of axle stands, jacks, welder... the list goes on.

They are all available for use, but need picking up from loughborough in leicester where i live.

I'm sure Chris should be able to bring this lot along with the boards etc from Stuarts

:-k ...... been thinking

I'm sick and tired of faffing around with sticking the display posters on the Mk1Club display boards with double-sided tape foam jobbies (don't know what you call them :? ). And every time we do this the display posters get damaged 'cos they are not protected or packaged properly.

(I am sure anyone who has helped setup will agree with me)

So it got me thinking. If MR2Only Steve can print some stuff up for us, can we not consider getting a load of click frames ? (I think that is what they are called - you know - perspex font, hardboard back, and clips that hold it together)

And also something to package them properly...

Thoughts?

My thoughts are on the cost firstly, then transportation and storage issues.

I agree that it's not great if things get damaged, but we have to consider the distance between the events they may be used at, and who would have space to garage/loft them.

I think if Steve manages to laminate them and we use stickyback velcro to enable them to be reused more easily, it's a step in the right direction.

For this event times against us, so I feel that getting A3 colour prints on a thickish stock paper and then laminating them will be okay, velcro tabs so we can remove them at the end of the day will work a treat, will staple together a big envelope they can be stored in. Trust me!!

Im hoping I can get this little lot done either F.O.C. or at very minimal cost, as im preparing the stuff at home and printing it in my lunch breaks, maybe just have to pay a little toward the laminating.

For future, it might be worth looking into what we call at work pop up banner displays, which I could buy at cost, these little fellas are 800 mm wide by about 8ft high, the display is printed on to banner material, so no need for sticking stuff on, and is on a roller with a foldable aluminium support at the back, I did 10 of them at work last week, these roll down into a little canvas back for easy storage and transport, will take some photos of them, and find out how much i can get them at cost for future

Transportation won't be much different whether they are in click frames or are stuck to hardboard. Storage - Stuart can store them, he has enough room. As for cost - I'd be very disappointed if the Mk1Club thought that this wasn't a good investment.

Well as I've said, Stuart can store them (he's the Mk1Club chairman after all)

I missed that, was it mentioned in the meeting? I don't think it is fair on Steve to ask him to print off enough A3 colour printed sheets to fill 6 off 8 foot x 4 foot boards and laminate them all free of charge!

Meeting notes, all items in orange need to be confirmed.

MSN Meeting re: Restoration Show, Stoneleigh, 11th March 2007

1. Health and Safety

As the public will be milling around the stand and cars, we must try and be H&S aware at all times. For this reason we must try to keep the stand tidy.
Tiamat will bring along a mini first aid kit, although there will be First Aid provided by the show organisers.

2. Van

Mk1chris has arranged hire of a van and the cost has been agreed by the mk1club.
Chris will pick up necessary items from Stuart (display boards, clothing, flags).
Chris will also bring some of the heavier tools, ie,Compressor

**Chris please confirm all other tools you plan to bring**

Tiamat on standby with HiLux in event of emergency.

3. Meeting Place/Accomodation for Sat Night

There is a Travelodge not far from where we will be drinking on Sat evening, so looks like we will stay there. Once this is confirmed I will advise of a good meeting point.
For those arriving on the day, you can meet us at Stoneleigh as the passes will be sent out to you. The attendants will provide you with a site map to guide you to the stand.
The pass will allow you access to the rear parking area for exhibitors. There is not a lot of space to park, so if you do not have a lot to carry, may be as well to park in the public car park.
We need to be at the show for 8.30am sharp!

All set up of stand must be done a ready for the public at ten.

**I believe Vix and Kiaowas will share a room, can Tom, Limey, Tiamat confirm by PM what their thought’s are on sharing? Does anyone else require accomodation?**

4. Refreshments

I have the mk1club kettle and tea/coffee etc. I’ll bring a four way plug thing too. Can you all bring a mug please, I’ll bring a couple spare.
If you’re all nice to me, I may bring those choc hobnobs!

**I’m guessing there is some sort of food facility at the show, can the guys that went last year confirm?**

5. On arrival at the show

Kirsty to make the teas. Everyone to muck in with setting up the stand and getting the cars in place. No work to start on cars until this is done.

6. Printing for display
SteveB has kindly offered to print all the articles/pics etc for the boards.
Kirsty to forward all info to Steve asap.
Tiamat to forward Spec Sheet to be printed.

7. Projector

Mk1chris kindly offered the use of a projector. We have decided that we will have enough on the boards and with the demo of the redesigned club website the projector will not be required, thanks for the offer.

8. Teams

The split of the teams to work on each of the cars will be decided on the day. Kirsty and vix to cover PR, all help much appreciated.

9. Tool Summary

Most of us will bring along basic tools I.e Sockets, axle stands, trolley jacks.
Oil Drainer - Tiamat/Limey
Alignment tool - Tom
Compressor - mk1chris **tbc**
Bush remover - Unleash **tbc**
Drills - Tiamat/SteveB

Other bits and bobs
Chairs - Anyone that has one
Tables - Kirsty (two small tables)
- Tiamat (decorating table/b&d bench)
- mk1chris/Stuart K **kirsty to confirm if they have them**

Swarfega - Tiamat

10. Mk1club mag write up

Tom has offered to do this for us, thanks.
SteveB is happy to provide any information from mr2only and all the pics on CD, Thanks.

11. And finally . . .

A HUGE thanks to everyone for helping with this. Hopefully this year we’ll beat last year’s second and get FIRST PRIZE!!

Steve,

Started my post before seeing yours. I think we need to replace the entire stock of posters, but I think asking you to print them up and then laminate them FOC is taking the p1$$ to be honest!

But I would hope that you can get us a good "at cost" price. If the Mk1Club don't think this is a good investment I won't renew my membership.

There should be plenty of money to do this. Now Vix is in charge of the finances at least we will have an idea whether this is ok

No worries Tom, Id stepped in and offered to help on this, as firstly its what I do for a job, so no need to pay out lots of dosh getting them done, and secondly feel im giving a bit back to a club thats so far benefitted me with lots of advice, help and some new friends along the way! not to mention all the the help with the project car we will be getting on the 11th, and a great spread in the magazine

As for next time, im more than happy to get some pop up displays priced up at cost price for future events, these would be a good investment, and really do look professional, I should be able to get them half priceish, as the gaffer told me the other day how much they cost us 8-[

 Heck, best get the bu88er taxed this week now then

As said on MSN last night, the plan is that we all muck in when we get there getting it set up and then whatever people feel happy with they take on, it should not be a problem. People know what they are happy doing and will naturally gravitate towards a particular task.

It is possible to overorganise and I think we should retain some of the fun rather then turning into a German production line by regulating it in advance.

I spoke to Kirsty this morning and I know she is going to have difficulty getting online during this week as its going to be busy so I have agreed to txt her to update her when necessary so feel free to post questions but don't expect an immediate answer.

ROFL! Malcolm, you crack me up......

Anyways I reckon we should all learn the words to "Deutschen Uber Alles" and sing it when the show opens!

Ok, back being serious, we don't have a lot of hours during the show. So we MUST get organised. We don't want to be faffaging around sending people out to B & Q or whatever because , I don't know, we've forgotten to bring tiewraps to attach the flag poles to the display boards or somesuch.....

Nein Tom, das ist verboten. Schnell, Schnell, Kartofel, Kartofel.

Think we will have everything covered, we got the best part of two weeks to plan it so there's no need to go mental yet.

Steady as she goes Mr Tom :thumleft:
