Jon, would be awesome if you could. :)
On the subject of shitty track day tyres, the last time I was at Rockingham I drove on a set of Champiros which came with the car. I dont think I overtook much which wasnt on a cool down lap that day and tbh even though they were poo tyres I didnt wear them down hardly at all. Worst thing was the feeling of the car washing out on most corners.
I REALLY wouldnt advise going with your option A.

Heheh, a thought has occured to me. Lemme see if I can find a video of "someone" on here wearing out their tyres a little quick at Rockingham. :D Its an awesome clip though, wish I had one of me like that.

**back soon ish, may take me a day or two as I will have to re-edit the DVD files to cut out the bit I want if I cant find it.

Hehe, damn you read this post before I could repost it :) Awesome clip from Dave our intrepid camera man who also side lines as an arsonist (nearly burnt down the cabin we stayed in at at the IMOC event day :D )

I now have some new video editting software. Once I work out wtf each button does, I will post a link for the video without the flashy square on it.

Just had a look at the driver list on bookatrack dot co dot uk and there could still do with being a few more mr2's at the event!

Come on get your names down, will be a good day!

Si Marshy will be there too giving his ARB's a testing, so that'll be another MR2 to count against the caterwestfieldham ratio. We've got a stopwatch hidden inside the gearknob so we can time the laps in secret to work out the best setup.

**yes I was joking about timing laps. I know its 100% forbidden and wont be doing it. :)

I'm sure Jonny will correct me if i'm wrong but using a video camera to record your laps, then playing them back at home and working out times is allowed as long as you don't publish them.

If any of the BaT employees or marshals see or hear that timing is being conducted, your day will be a short one.

Video recording is permitted, but again if we see or get wind that the footage is being checked or compared lap to lap or car to car on the day, your day will again be a short one.

If you want to do timing, find a test day :thumleft:

Bookatrack is a member of the ATDO and certain restrictions are put into place to help make it a safe environment for everyone involved. If any member of the ATDO is found breaking the rules they can be struck off. Also the operational license is at risk as is the organisers public liability insurance.

It's just not wise guys :thumleft:

While I'm fine with the no timing rule I find it quite amusing how muddy the rule is regarding video cameras is. You're allowed to use them, but if you so much as hint you've worked out a time at, or after the event you're in trouble.

Much the same with data loggers, I've been told they're fine to use as long as you're not checking them through the day.

Went to rockingham for the noise test on sat morning! Was really impressed with the circuit, got to boot it a little in the pit area!

Anyway passed the noise test marginally at 99Db @5800rpm, limit being 103Db, so was pretty close. Still i passed so at least i havent got to silence it for the day.

Cannot wait for it now, really wanted to get on the ciruit on sat, did a few runs through the 'Noise appreciation tunnel' though

Garrick,

Could we participate in Karen's MR2 Challenge car, or does it have to be MOT'd and road legal, etc?

Seeing as she'll be racing at the Rock' later this year it would be nice to try the circuit out. I've driven there before and love it.

Cheers,
Rich.

Rich, yes you can :thumleft:

As long as it could pass scrutineering in a race and passes the circuits noise test you'll be fine :thumleft:

We have many race cars at track days and as long as they comply above and the drivers follow track day rules - you'll be fine :thumleft:

Incidentally, Jo & I should be there too :thumleft:

Nice! Didn't know if you'd be there. :thumleft:

Thanks for the info. Would be good to attend in the Supercharger but it's still in (lots of) bits. I've asked Karen. We'll see...

Cheers,
Rich.

I think it's really there just to stop people from pushing beyond their limits in order to beat some time, thats how stoppages happen :-:

Power circuits I usually have the measure of nearly all the caternail tyre cars, Rockingham infield certainly levelled things out!

Hopefully I'll be able to join everyone for an afternoon, or at least turn up for the social.

Yeah - i think Rock has a really good balance of power versus handling sections.
I love it (esp when we tried a caterham superlight - 6th gear with the limiter flashing round the oval section was fun)

I think it has bits that most cars will get the most out of.

I will be working, but hopefully get chance to take something out on track for a bit. (hope to have out newer mk1 track car ready)
