I've tried several bulbs. Silverstar are better than Halfords 50% brighter, they have been the best I tried. This was 2 years ago though, the Philips ones are probably the ones to go for now. 50% sounds a lot, its not really in reality.

I then got some Raybrig lenses with the Raybrig bulbs. Bulbs were no better than Silverstar and lenses improved dipped beam illumination but full beam is NOT as good as with the stock glass lenses.

I then fitted HIDs and being slightly blue, 6000k they already lose a bit of light over standard bulbs, but the extra power brings that back plus a BIT more, doesn't transform anything. You won't get the effect of modern cars factory fitted with HIDs because the Raybrigs are poorly designed for refraction/reflection etc IMO (aside from the fact they're not designed for HIDs). Had no problems with other motorists and passed the MOT with no issues.

Raybrig + HIDs do update them a fair bit, hence I don't regret any of the purchases.

HTH a bit :thumleft:
