I'd leave this a while Mick, and as suggested, have a go next year. The price to get in took the pi$$ as bit, and the organisation there was terrible.
How the hell were we charged so much for getting in?
I'm obviously not having a go at you Mick, your a mate and all that, but I reckon a lot of people will be feeling a bit 'hard done by'.
I'll give ya a bell next week mate :thumleft:

I guess thats a no then!

If any of the first record group fancy a day out i guess we could get a great deal for £4.5k at most tracks around the country!!

As well as the complete lack of organisation (not pointing fingers as I don't know whos fault that was), I knew we wouldn't get the record due to the simple fact that a lot of cars flew off at speed on the track with no regard to the car behind or in front, which was trying to keep a three car length, as they were instructed whilst waiting.

I too would like to see more involvment from the various club organisers, rather than just one person organising, as it makes contact much easier, and people will know what's going on!

We also really need to find another campsite!!!

hey come on! too be fair the the majority of owners there enjoyed themself!! and the whole thing was organised by one person!!! and it was xxxxx up by the stupid idiots at Rockingham not by the organiser so personally i think you should cut some slack.

just my 2p worth I too spent alot of money including £60 and 3 points but wouldnt have missed it for the world

Thanks for your support Tony doesn't matter if 20 people organised it it was down to the numpties at Rockingham what caused the whole thing to flop.I'm gonna make sure this doesn't happen again at the next one.

When i read this post i thought it would pretty cool to do it again, then i read the threads and it reminded me of the bad things.

Main one being.........we were taking part in a world record, why did we pay so much, especially when its race punters were just getting a big bonus jap show at half time ?

I could understand paying per car...but shelling out for my girlfriend to come too....we were hardly there to watch the fiat punto racing !!!

And the big one.....one lap.

I did have a really good day to be fair, it wasnt about the record for me it was about the people and the cars.

I would be tempted next year, but it needs to be a bit more value for money, especially if its at rockingham.

Maybe the really important things should have been chased up by you as organiser to ensure they didn't feck up. I am forever chasing up things to ensure people fulfil their side of things.

Please keep in touch with the other club event organisers (esp the mk1 club, as you forgot me last time), as i know a few of us have more ideas than having to pay entry for just one thing.
eg; the entry fee for all the attendees can hire a venue for a full day and we could run other fun things to do on track etc throughout the day.

IIR the world records will not allow a record for a single mark, but will allow a make
eg toyota, but not mr2.
we can still do all mr2s but it will only count as a toyota record
this is to stop too many very similar world records i think.

Silverstone would cost and arm and a leg though surely?

Anywho - i've said before, if you want to do it as part of a trackday, let me know.

What about putting it on at an MR2challenge race day? Have you spoken to them as the series boss might be interested in raising the profile of the challenge series, and may be able to pull some strings with the race organisers... (I don't know for sure, but it would seem to be worth a try to me)

Why not try somewhere like Bruntingthorpe its an airfield site, 4miles of track 60mtrs wide, loads of space for displays etc. Runs its own trackdays as well. Not to technical but fast and fun, the Beast enjoyed it. MR2DC used it in 2000 for their record attempt.Shouldn't cost anywhere near as much as Silverstone and is in middle england as well, so easy to get to for a lot of mr2's
