I patched it for a while with the exhaust back box kit and exhaust putty from a car shop for short time

My fault tho didn't see the engine mount bolt had dropped off

yes dude, but it would be nice in the 3 years ive had the car to get the power i deserve, lol...now this, just when i was gona get the thing mapped!




where can i take the pipe to be rewelded??? is there any specific places?? i dont no jack all about welding or how its ment to be done and what materials. price??

dude you need a stainless welder as it's allot diffrent to normal weld (that just a tip)

yeh, ive popped a couple of emails across to a few local companies that work with stainless steel, just hope the turbo end of the downpipe isnt to hard to get off....

sounds like a drag car at the minute, cool, but worried to give it any beans, lol.

We've seen exactly this failure with both C2 Power and TB supplied ExtremeBoost de-cat pipes.

ok, ive found my old standard downpipe, with cat still inside, will try and swap it over and get this welded up....
is it just a case of bashing out the inners to remove the old cat mesh? not poisonous or irritable or anything is it? daft question i know...

jim before you get too excited and take it all off

put it all back together with the exhaust back on etc .try and guess where the d/p bracket will go
then mark where the broken pipes need to be in relation to each other

would be a shame to get it welded the find the flange the exhaust bolts to is pointing out of the side of the car exaggeration ,but i hope you get my point

i did a couple of marks on the downpipe so it would fit 100% correctly when redone...

the bracket, well that snapped, so its difficult to guess on that one.

Just fit a blitz decat and be done with it, might not release quite as much power as a DP but it'll never break

That must be the exhaust pulling on it contributing alot for both the pipe and bracket to break.

what size are the downpipe bolts? 14mm or 12mm?

Prob snapped due to it being lagged - Stainless steel is very brittle com paired to mild steel and does not like being wrapped.
The bracket breaking did not help and the weight of stoopid Blitz exhaust cant have helped!

Best bet for now, bash the stock cat out (don't breath it in) and fit that power difference will be negligible hence why i cant be ar$ed to buy a proper down pipe and have all the rubbish like this that goes with them.

Well ths weekend i'm off to fix a down pipe on a standard turbo so if the guy wants to take pics it's fine but i just do and never take pics till after lol

If you are going to get it welded, make sure it is purged with inert gas. A proper weld will not get penetration without it. It will fur up on the reverse side and not last long.
