what you really want is the lotus 2 eleven

I have driven one of these on a car test is was helping out with in germany. there may be no roof but it is an incredible car to drive.

on a dry track it killed all the other cars we had inc: porsche, 350z, BMW M3(New one), Evo Viii fq380hks, audi rs4, caterham.

I have pics but dont know how to load them any help please?

Porchche - check (up to 996 911 gt3 rs)
350z - check
M3 - check
Evos - check
RS4 - check
Caterham - most of them

Looks like an MR2 will do afterall :)

I would like to see your car up against the 2eleven as this car im affraid is a lot lighter and running good power but it jus tstupidly quick through corners and braking.

You could go at least 20mph faster in fast corners and brake 10meters later than the other cars. ( I thought porsche brakes were good but these are incredible)

Also usually mr2s suffer from brake fade etc after a little while of hard braking but the 2 elevens brakes just kept going and going

A well driven 2eleven would leave me for dead no question. I was just highlighting a well setup and driven sw20 can hold it's own.

I recently had a play in an Exige at Silverstone - no question the straight line speed is not tubby speed. :) But the cornering.... Really I've never achieved such G-forces in an MR2...well not without it involving spinning. :)

S1 Exige came with either 172bhp or 190bhp, isn't that correct? Thought only the 190bhp was classed VHPD.

A friend of mine who's had the same N/A rev2 on and off over the past 5 years has just bought an Exige S2. Supercharged, 220bhp, with sport and comfort pack. In the past he's had a Elise 111s with a K-series in it.

The day he got it, me in my N/A Rev4 , the new owner of his rev2, a mate in an F430 and him went out for a drive.

There wasnt much in it til 80mph between the F430 and the Lotus, and the Lotus braked better and minced the Ferrari in the corners.

Decat gets you 15bhp, filter maybe a couple...but when the lotus is around 5-600kgs, whatever gains you get are effectively doubled thanks to the power to weight ratio :)

I'd love an Exige or the 240SR.

Hmmmmm.

Probably not bad on juice either being light.

A wet elise is more around 800 with driver.

Cant believe no one has mentioned a VX220 Turbo with stage 4 tuning and 290+bhp or VX220 2.2 supercharged with 240bhp.

Still thinking about getting a VX220 myself, you get alot for 10-11k
