High lift = valves opening further
Longer duration = valves open for longer.

you dont want too much duration on turbo engines as you will end up with too much overlap (where both inlet & ex valves are open @ same time) as the result is losing boost pressure. So high lift is the best option for a turbo motor.

Mushin- i cant begin to imagine how close the piper cams must be to fouling the head with that lift - mine were dangerously close!!!

i've had to massage the heads with a carbide bit to get the bp300s to fit.

not hard but time consuming to get nice.

Dino kindly contacted ATS, obtained the specs on the TDO6 and did some research to see what cams would benefit my mini build and Dino recommended the 244 Piper cams as did ATS Aaron, Trickster and Piper too- so jobs a good'un \:D/

Thanks Dino :thumleft:

Were you reffering to me here mate?

I have never recommended piper cams to anyone, and seen nothing but bad things with them in the past on every vehicle they have been on lol.

I think the 264/264 HKS combo takes alot of beating myself.

Personal preference I guess!

No flaming here guys as i'm only relaying what I have come to hear by those with experience of the Piper cams....

If memory serves me correctly Andy F actually dumped his Piper cams for stock items in the end, or at least was looking to do so....Andy can you confirm?

I also had a chat with Dave Rowe who also maps Andy's, and he had nothing good to say about them. In fact if I were to quote him word for word the bad language filter would have it's work cut out! lol

Certainly food for thought gents. But like I said please don't flame me for this. Some of you seem to be getting decent results so it's worth bearing in mind that each and every car responds differently to the same mods, so make up your own minds ;)

Spot on there Mike. :thumleft:

I've used Piper cams in just about every car I've built in the past, and I've tried loads of others. Sometimes the results have been good, and sometimes indifferent, but I can honestly say, I've never had a bad experience through using Piper products.

The only time I ever had a bad lot was when I used a Kent cam in a an old Ford Pinto motor I built once for a mate. It just didn't produce the goods at all, so we scrapped it and chucked a Piper in there, and it flew!

I'll give mine a go, and if they're no good, I'll be changing them for some others, but having been recommended them by Dino and Andi, I'm hardly about to say no.

Sorry Graeme, what I should have made clearer is that you recommended a 264in/264ex set up as I was gonna go with a staggered cams set up, but both you and ATS Aaron recommended against a staggered set up :thumleft:
