Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
I did similar coming off a roundabout in my first MR2 (1988 MK1) about 9 years ago. Only did 90 degree spin, but ended up sideways in a lamp post at 30MPH. Had been raining, and was a heavy lorry route, so I still believe there was deisel on the road as well as water. I'd had the car for 8 days, and it was written off.
Problem was I didn't know how to catch it when it started to slide.
Yeah its right by an industrial estate off the M56 so its a heavily used roundabout especially by lorries. You could see a track of water running round where the road had dipped from all the use its had.
Lol - Southampton might be a little far away - be a nice road trip. Though not in the rain
Cheers
Yeah the slight jerk of changing gears unsettled her - even at low revs!
It's notb the jerk you get from physically changing gear that's the problem. It's the loss in momentum and drive throught eh wheels that alters the forces acting on the car.
This means that the suspension changes to compensate and often leads to losing control.
