Yup the, intake manifold!

Mushin would it not be safer to take the reading from the turbo?

i.e 2 bar at the manifold is going to be more at the turbo. Hence working the turbo harder.

Just wondered in terms of overworking the turbo. Readings are usually taken from the Turbo. so if you then take ti from somewhere else and try and get say 2 bar there the turbo is working that much harder.

I was thinking of the poor turbo

Nope, readings are taken from the inlet plenum as you need to measure how much air is going into the actual engine, not what the turbo is producing.

Be nice to take readings from both places then work out ho efficient your inter/charge cooling is.

But what about when a turbo manufacture produced a flow graph for a turbo? thos readings etc are taken from the turbo. So if it is inefficient at above 2 bar but you run 2 bar from the plenum then the turbo is past its efficiency range right?

My line of thinking that spurred on the post was with regards to the feed thats taken from the turbo for the actuator onthe stock turbo. I completely forgot that the actual boost gauge reading was tee'd off from the plenum feed by the diag. box.

Fired it up for the first time after a long time yesterday and it came alive first time. Put in a few settings on the Motec and got a steady idle at 1100rpm. Car sat for 2 hours at tick over. Slight fuel leak, but resolved that yesterday.

Car sounds sweet as a nut. The intake manifold sounds well sexy. Has a unique resonance to it.

when the car hibernates do you use a battery conditioner or anything, or just remove it/ recharge before waking it up ?

That escort is an animal on track. Its been runner up for the past few years, in the series it races in, but is favourtie to win it this year.
