**update**I have taken my car into the garage this morning
(well had it collected).I have gone to a place in Derby called K Brown Auto Engineering, got a good price and he realy seems to know what he is on about.
however, the quote ive got is based on the crank being repairable and the con rods being salvagable.
if this is not the case then it is going to be more 
the problem ive now got is my budget only stretches as far as
£1500, if its a job of replacing then its gona be more than that
