It's not. There's a reason they removed the '99' branding.

Yeah its 97, after repeated searching. I haven't found much at all relating to ron rating for Shell fuel. But the consensus i've come to is they have removed the rating because it is actually 97 not 99..

Where did you find that? I couldn't find anything official from Shell online that actually stated it's RON rating?

There isn't anything online at all, even looking back Shell have removed all specs of their V-Power nitro fuel relating to ron rating. I'm just saying after the research i've done just now and previously I can only conclude that it wasn't actually ever increased to 99. Several years ago shell did actually have their fuel specs online (i don't have a screenshot) but I saw it and it was 100% 97 ron.

"
In the United Kingdom and Denmark (where Super Plus Unleaded must be a minimum of 97 RON), V-Power has a rating of 99 RON (whereas V-Power's predecessor Shell Optimax was rated at 98 RON).[2] There is one other 99 RON fuel available in the UK, namely Tesco MOMENTUM99.[3]
"

This from wikapedia. They basically rolled up Optimax and gave it a new name. It is 97 ron in most other countries.

I wish we had E85 in the UK.

Its all really conjecture as there are no facts listed that I can find.

So i use 99 Ron from Tesco. I don't get why Shell are so cagey about it all.

the gtr link suggests people contacted shell and they confirmed 99ron.

so not sure where you are finding 97?

Well maybe my info is out of date, I might actually contact shell for the hell of it see if I can get written confirmation of 99ron.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Octane ratings are only associated for Unleaded fuels. Octane rating for Shell V Power Nitro+ Unleaded is 99RON.

Once again, thank you for contacting Shell UK. We do hope you have found this information useful.

If you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to email us back.

Yours sincerely,

Fair enough, I wonder why they removed it from all online stuff though.

I defo saw an official shell document (admittedly some years ago now) stating it was 97, it was not long after the switch over from optimax.
