Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
your probably not getting a connection as the wires don't have proper terminals on, i have a spare connector that you can take the terminals out of and fit them to your connector i will dig it out shortly ive just got to pop out for a bit
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
The white wire with the brown bits going across it is the live feed in which then goes to all the mirror motors via the switch and other wires, check that it is actually live when the ignition is on. Multimeter, test lead etc if you dont have any real test gear just use a small bulb (like a sidelight bulb with plug and wire tails) and earth one of the wires.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
right i have been and got my spare wiring plug,
as you can see the wire colours are different, it's not an issue toyota changed alot of colours over the years but the pin locations remained the same generally, that plug is from a uk spec car hence it has no pink wire it is also missing the blue wire that goes to the right of the green reason being i got the connector so i could use one wiring pin to add my retracting mirrors on my car.
i can send you this plug just let me know your address when you get the plug id suggest you get some chocolate block like so
http://uk.farnell.com/metway-electrical ... dp/1134210
fit the blue wire from your car next to the green wire in the new block, then use the chocolate block to temporarily attach each of your cars wires to the new connector as shown by tiff lee (attach your blue/red to the grey on the new connector) then fit the connector to the switch and see if it works
also check both the frunk and footwell fuse boxes to make sure you haven't blown any fuses whilst doing this

Good stuff, i'd suggest in the mean time just to be sure that you check the live feed wire as I described above

Is your rear mounting clip still there they usually snap off with age. The good news is there only about £20 new from Toyota for the whole panel

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
All seems to be intact as far as I can see.
The block that goes into the switching unit has edges on it and these are too wide to allow the block to slide on, if I turn it the other way it doesn't line up!
Btw, have I wired the block correctly?

"Next problem, the multi block does not want to clip into place on the drivers door rest panel. "

Just to clarify are you referring to the mirror adjustment switch? In the image above the right hand side of the plug as you are holding (2x red, green, blue wire) is the top face as it slides onto the pins of the mirror control switch.

No matter which way I try, the multi plug does not want to fit or slot into place at all.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
Any chance of the picture of the plug and switch orientated in the the way you are putting them together

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
lol mate! I figured you was doing this, lay the plug down so the wires are heading along the rest of the panel (towards the electric window segment).
So rotate the whole plug 90 degrees (when looking at it from the side)

That plug fits on horizontally rather than vertically. There's a good picture of the correct orientation of this plug in this post, you just need to scroll down the page a bit and you'll soon see what I mean

I've now lost the drivers side speakers.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Electrical door mirror adjustment plug.
I would say check the multiplug for the speaker but that aside one thing at a time.
Have you rotated the plug for the mirror switch and fitted it correctly? is it working?

It's all working fine now. Mirrors that is.
The speaker worked fine when the multiplying was loose.

Speaker now working but left hand mirror will not adjust up and down just side to side.
So plug will be coming off again.

Whilst you've it apart again pull back the rubber tube between the a post and door and check for broken/frayed wires seen it happen a few times and causes strange issues
