new mats, well they aren't new but i have had them in every mr2 i have owned, must like them
Image

I also took out the temp control unit and replaced it with the one from the other mr2.
All the lights light up blue apart from the temperature selector, it changes colour the higher the temp is set, looks better than the original one from the mule Imo

i will update this when i get a picture at night...

The floor mats i completely get, ive got a set out the beams i had which are really nice but cant have them in my current mr2 due to doing lots of construction type work and only have the car to run about in just now

Good to see you making her your own, Martin :thumleft:

The paint is a base white with 3 coats of Harley Davidson Pearl over the top, I think :-k Might be a massive PITA to colour match it exactly, so it could be worth getting creative on the sills both sides.

Tuned in :)

Will get on top of it once i get rid of the other mr2, clutch in audi has started slipping as well ](*,)

I will get some photos soon but not much has changed to be honest, she is however stuck on 1.4 bar which i am looking forward to fixing

The ecu is saying 1.4 bar, the boost controller and gauge are both saying 0.74 bar.
she is still a bit quicker than my mates 3L twin turbo m3 at 1.4 bar so can't grumble considering what i paid for her

I do plan on getting the inlet temps down and raising the boost a little, maybe push for around the 450 bhp mark, not sure why though as she is fine the way she is, even at 1.4 bar... :eye:

i guess i just like having things to achieve :eye:

That's odd. Do you stil have the old boost controller to test it?

450bhp will be easily achievable with a few cooling adjustments. You might regret that when the tyres are cold and your foot gets a bit wayward

Sat and read my old thread again at the weekend. Might just have to update it, seeing as it's been over half a year! :o

It is a bit odd, i have only had her out a couple of times since buying her , will figure it out.
My plan is to get rid of the other mr2 as quickly as i can and then that will free up some time to fix the niggles and enjoy her a bit more :)

I might put a new set of rears on her, what are a good make ? will she take the same sized tyres that are on her now ? full tread is going to make a deeper tyre..... :-k

not a great pic but here is the new heater control...

Image

not sure why the picture is so bad, the settings must have been changed... :(

I am now thinking of removing the radtec core and replacing with this, even though the car isn't laggie (if there such a word ?) i reckon it will work well, especially as i have all the room i need because of the engine lid.
what is best to put at the bottom of the chargecooler core to help keeping heat soak at bay ?

https://www.frozenboost.com/air_water-i ... 116f7808fc

do you think that would work ok ?

Been really enjoying driving this car, she sailed through the mot, no advisories 8)

Bought 2 rear tyres,

http://www.oponeo.co.uk/tyre-details/ha ... r#94146068

I got these for £116 each including delivery, cam skill and black circle were £154+ each, bargain :D
So far, they hold the car down in every gear, in the dry only off course....

I also bought a new charge cooler core from the states, my plan is to fit it above where the standard engine lid normally sits.
I still need to source some water pipes and 3.5" to 3" samco pipes, then i will fit it and remove the radtec core. I will buy black samco at a later date to keep the engine bay tidy but for fitting and mapping purposes i will use the hoses i already have...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank QUOC2008 , he sold be a boot mount set up very cheap, i never used it but the pipes he sent me are going to make the charge cooler so much easier to fit, cheers bud :thumleft:

Image

And Yes. that is a 500ml bottle of beer on top of the core...

This should give me instant extra bhp by keeping the air temps down to a minimum, 20" across so a big core, i will get everything checked come September and maybe increase the boost a wee bit, would be happy with around 450 bhp on high boost, will run 1.5 bar on low boost, fingers crossed everything goes to plan

HaHa, think you misread my post dude, 20" core 8-[

Be impossible to get 20c temps if the ambient temp was 25c for example
I'm pretty sure 20c will be possible in the winter months though, not sure if the car will be on the road then or tucked up somewhere away from all that nasty road salt

will keep the thread updated with how well this core works, or not, hopefully not the later though :eye:

Interesting.... :thumleft: Me being nosey, what boost+power were you running with the radtech in? Would be nice if there was a better core that still fitted in the SMIC location.

Good luck with your project 8)

Nah! Top mount is where it's at. Shorter inlet pipe runs. Here's mine:

Probably as short an inlet tract you can get!

Good luck with the project Martin :thumleft:

Would be easy on a CT20b, but more troublesome with a bigger GT3076 turbo i think.

Simon Hicks ran that very chargecooler core that is on my car now, in the exact same position on a GT35R turbo.

Nice! What's the chargecooler called? Or is it best to talk to Pete?

Best to talk to Pete mate. It's a custom core (2 cores welded together), not available off the shelf. I merely bought the core off Simon, bought a Radtech pre-rad and a Audi TT Bosch pump and handed it all to Pete to fit to the car.

This was my plan originally but the heat from the engine will make a difference, so i would prefer slightly longer pipes and no direct heat directly under it.
Your chargecooler does work well and is proven, sitting on top of all the heat must make an impact on inlet temps though... :-k

406 bhp at 1.6 bar, temps on the hand commander aren't any good, today it was 25c outside and the commander was reading 39c at 60 mph, didn't change on a hard pull but if caught in traffic would go up tp 48c
I know on a hard pull that the air temp definitely rises so i am looking at getting a more responsive air intake temp sensor.

48 degrees aint that bad, dread to think what mine is at? To be honest PP SMIC isnt that bad, i just don't want to be running more than 1.7bar boost,

I want 400bhp and just over with as low boost pressure as possible

Does a CC not have a fan blowing cold air when stuck in traffic?

If you do a full chat pull and 3 starts your iat reading your winning .. if you want lower fit water/meth :thumleft:

Ps. fitting heat reflective/prof matting between the cc and head works .. gt4oc info :thumleft:
