rev5

Post by 2tmike »

so how do you know that ?
Hi all,
This car was purchased by a local chap who was after a cheap tintop turbo at the time. He had it several months before selling it on ebay to this seller i think. All in all its not a bad car really for the price. It is a genuine rev5 tubby and with a bit of £'s spent on it would be sound car.

NEVER was or has been in my possession.

Cheers

Basically i always get emails / requests from people looking for specific cars.

As did this chap (not current seller). So having spotted the Rev5 on this site from previous owner I got all details / negotiated a price and then got the sellers details and forwarded them onto the buyer and a deal was done

As with all cars we source I Hpi all of them if requested by buyer. This car was checked and Hpi Clear.

As the buyer was not a club member the owner finalized the sale as he had sold it to me thats all.

Cheers

Gaz,

Didn't realise you were on here too, matey! If it's any consolation my rev 2 was far from described on Ebay, though thankfully in my case nothing serious (oil leak that Peter at Sbits sorted quickly and relatively painlessly and a MOT that needed doing despite the seller claiming it was valid until then).

I can happily say I've known Gaz for many years in a non-car related past-time (airsoft) and he is a genuine guy - his reason for downsizing his small collection of nice cars is genuine as the photos of the M5 he's just bought to replace them with are on facebook. I'd recommend people go view the car, as Gaz states he is happy for people to do, and make their own minds up rather than casting random aspersions here. :)

Good man for revising the listing, but how had the cars mileage gone backwards? The clocks cant have been replaced as the car has rev5 cluster which are very rare.
As for front end damage, probably just a nosecone crunch as it all looks to line up as good as new from the pics so no worries from that side of things, just the mileage issue :?

What's the mileage stated as on the old MOTs?

The mileage has NOT been clocked as far as I am aware. Whilst the car was in the previous IMOC owners possession the speedo stopped working therefore the mileage 'froze' and the car didn't clock up any mileage for about a year and a half. Hence in the original thread for sale it is guessed at 95km's however the clock were showing less as they were not clocking up mileage when driven.....

Yeah, according to the topic with the original sale in, it was estimated to be at about 95K when it was sold in July/August 2011.

So that means around 6-7 months before I bought it, so assuming it was a daily driver (unlikely, given the type of car) I'd estimate it's on around 101K now, which is still only 63K miles :)

Well, it sold for £2,800.

Unfortunately the winning bidder is under the impression that the car is recorded as accident damaged and is Cat C and is threatening to report me to eBay for being dishonest!

You can't win, can you?

The V5C mentions nothing about it being Cat C (or Cat D for that matter, or anything other than "first registered overseas" or whatever it says for imports) and the HPI check I did when I bought it doesn't either.

Just to make sure I'm not going mad, I did a history check with MyCarCheck on the iPhone just now, and that's not showing anything recorded either.

Grrrr.

What has the winning bidder got to back up his idea it's a Cat C?

Apparently one of his friends has done a check on it and it's come back as being recorded.

ask him to put up or shut up...and show you his HPI report...
if you've done one yourself and it's clear then you're OK...I think that there's an undertaking behind HPI if they make a mistake you've got protection...

He should have checked before bidding.

I'm not his greatest fan to be fair though
