I can report what i've seen when Luke (the dood above) did mine!

obviously, wait for the car to cool down!

- get a tray underneath the engine as you will loose coolant
- take off the bolt holding the oil dipstick and move it gently out of the way
- undo the 2 bolts on the side of the thermostat
- pop the hose off, but be careful to keep it upwards so you don't end up with everything coming out :)
- get the thermostat out, gently clean the hose with a wirebrush and a cloth
- put the new thermostat into the hose, but make sure the small air valve is on the TOP
- replace hose, bolt it back up
- bleed!

Coolant Toyota Forlife anyway need two 5litre containers at £20 per tub, thow in a couple of O rings for radiator bleed screws just had mine changed at Roguemotorsport check their fixed prices your quote with thermostat seems ok.

You dont need 10 litres of coolant if you're just replacing the thermostat. Obviously it doesn't hurt to change it if it hasn't been done.
If you're after a quick thermostat replacement, 115 for the job at toyota is ridiculous.
