For 26-27 grand I would be looking at TVR/Lotus/Used Porsche, not a Ford Focus.No matter how beasty it is.
In fact the MR2 has bags more character than any Focus, I dont care if it it smokes me in the twisties.

Btw, when I had my tubby I had a play with a 996 Carerra 2S.They
"only" have lower 300 odd HP iirc.
I couldnt stay with him even with similar power.
He had something no MR2 has
- grip and LOTS of it.
Where I was backing off due to skitting around he was just getting faster and faster.
