Yes far too much grip these days. I'd much rather have an LSD out back and more power than grip.

The Focus RS and ST are nice cars but still basically a souped up variant of a daily runaround/shopping trolley. No matter how fast it is, or how it sounds, I will still look and say, `nice, but it`s still a Ford Focus..`. And for some reason (in my head anyway ), it just doesnt cut it looks wise in the same way that say, an old Escort RS Turbo did compared to its bog standard counterpart.

For 26-27 grand I would be looking at TVR/Lotus/Used Porsche, not a Ford Focus. No matter how beasty it is. In fact the MR2 has bags more character than any Focus, I dont care if it smokes me in the twisties. Old sports car vs modern bubbleship... I know which wins my vote.

Btw, when I had my tubby I had a play with a 996 Carerra 2S. They "only" have lower 300 odd HP iirc. I couldnt stay with him even with similar power. He had something no MR2 has - grip and LOTS of it. Where I was backing off due to skitting around he was just getting faster and faster.

Yes all the other porsches, boxtser s( 297bhp) my dads got one. etc...

+ the carreras.. a slightly modified tubby will keep up no problem....

But the 911 turbo is a completely different ball game....

You must be dreaming(unless your running 400bhp odd)... drag raced my mate in his mr2 which is running 300bhp.... and left for dead in all gears.....

4WD all the way....

I'm talking about a Carerra 2S, the ones that have sub 350bhp and 2wd?

And it did leave me for dead once the road got less than flat and straight.

F no - they go like rocket ships lol.

I'm under no delusions that MR2's are anything more than very tunable cheap sports cars that can be made to go very fast in mostly straight lines.
