I've got Rev5 calipers with Carbotec pads, they are bloody good on the road, but you notice their limitations on the track IMO. Too much heat is generated.

Just a note for the hydraulic handbrake. The UK MOT required a mechanical handbrake with a locking mechanism, so although a hydraluic handbrake can be applied for the likes of drifting, it would fail an MOT if its not got a working mechanical handbrake. You'll notice a lot of the latest lambos/ferraris/astons etc all run a seperate (small) handbrake caliper on the rears.

karl is US based  but yep that's an issue for sure in the UK hence I'm stuck with a stupid OEM caliper and not a 4 pot rear to match the fronts.

It would be quite easy to get the mechanical rear caliper just for the handbrake. I think HUX Racing did this adaption :-k

cheers Jim, I like it very much lol. Can't thank Karl enough for his help and patience getting the fronts sized and sourced and Ant for his rear conversion. Defo money well spent  :thumleft:

yeah, i'm in minnesota. we pay our registration, we get our sticker. there's no inspection or emissions of any sort. it's good if you're looking to run stuff that isn't 'letter of the law,' but i see vehicles on the road everyday that i wish had to pass some sort of safety inspection. double edged sword i guess..

as far as the mechanical ebrake thing, i know hux uses the wilwood setup, but from what i've read it's really pretty crap. (the wilwood spot caliper, not the hux kit)

i did a little digging and there are some oem ebrake calipers that are way too small to work as the hydraulic portion of the setup, but would work as a cheap, small spot caliper. some of the GM cars have rear ebrake calipers that would be easy to mount on the hub out of the way of the primary caliper. the trick is to find one that doesn't require a second bracket to hold the pads.

the rear calipers i'm using have e-brake levers on them, i just haven't gotten around to fabbing the brackets to connect them to the stock cables.

mm that's not something you usually read about. Not that I track my car but my front calipers were stuffed and the carriers not far behind and god how much do I hate the std setup  .

Karl - yeah that's the downside of rules like that, it's great if you want to 'improve' the car but then another person see's it as a way of getting by without fixing something :(

looking back was about 800quid including pads. If I'd kept OEM but replaced the front calipers like for like (mine were totally gubbed) then I guess you could take 100-150 off that price though need to factor in new front carriers so all in it wasn't a bad deal i think. If you kept std sized brakes all round then more around 450 plus pads carbotecs are what 250 for both axles so 700quid... not a huge difference

Rally design sell kits with bkts for doing this, they are in Herne Bay Kent nowadays.
