Wow, thats got to be the best looking red MR2 I've ever clapped eyes on.

How much do you wax it to keep it looking so rich?!

I'd consider getting that if you werent at the other end of the country. I'd say to any potential buyer, buy and look after it, it's rare to see a car in such condition, even much newer cars.

Has it been resprayed?

thanks for the comments Matt! i like to try and take pride in my cars; nice comments makes it just that little bit more worth it :D

the car has never seen a bodyshop, paint is all original; other than the 2 stone chips i touched in on the splitter over the weekend that is! the skirts are off now, and i have to say, it sort of looks better without them; will post a new photo after i get to take one

i clayed, polished & waxed it last november i think it was; havent since! just gets it weekly wash; and still looks the dogs danglies! ive got a free week for the rest of the week so you never know, might polish & wax again if the forecast is wrong and i get a nice day!

skittles: yeah i got your pm mate, not in a position to sell currently, as i dont technically "need" to, and i definitely dont want to if i dont have to; the thread was to gather any potential interest in the car; from which there seems to be quite a bit, which is nice!

will obviously let you know if my circumstances change dramatically in the next few weeks

been having a think about it, and i may be tempted to sell if the right offer comes along; as i'm sort of getting itchy feet as usual; since i wanted a turbo in the first place

mileage when i got home tonight was 56,843 i think, give or take a couple of miles. car will be getting an oil and filter service done sometime around the start of next month

as far as money goes, and having looked at the prices of similar cars for sale at the moment in various places...under no circumstances will i take less than £3k for the car; as its worth more to me and any future owner than that amount; especially as genuine, original, low mileage examples are becoming rather hard to come by it would seem!

just to confirm also...the skirts were removed from the car 2 weeks ago, and the original vents (which i'd kept) were re-fitted, so completely standard bodywork

and as far as part exchanges go... rev 3+ tubby, s14a, e36 beemer (328), or something interesting, but no shopping cars or tarts handbags please :D

Can I tempt you with a ZS 180? Doubt it, but worth a try...

Snap, Im 21 too mate, used to have a ZR before my 2 aswell! My mums got the 180, but shes after something else now. I drive it quite regularly and prefer it to my 2, so nice having so much torque on tap and eats up the miles on long journeys.

Goodluck with the sale anyway dude

yeah i know what u mean about a lack of torque, tho it was worse when i had my CTR, think that was in minus torque figures!
i had 5 cars in between my ZR and the mr2 though, 2x C2 VTS, Leon Cupra TDi, Mk3 MR2, and obviously my Civic Type R, incase u were interested.

Thanks bud :thumleft:

Right, a little update n lots of new photos; since i managed to wash the bu88er while its blowing a gale outside!

Mileage ticked over to 57k on tuesday, no great shakes!

Forgot to mention the car has a GENUINE S2000 push button starter button in place of the cigarette lighter!

Car got a brand new OEM gear gaitor literally yesterday direct from Mr Toyota and a cost of £27!

I've replaced the best part of the dashboard trim, as the previous owner had a little fetish for silver & red; so the vast majority of it is new stuff, just need a couple of bits to finish it off which will be done soon. Same theme was carried over into engine bay (silver fuse box covers for example) so theyve all been replaced too!

But as can be seen below, leather is immaculate, not even a single patch of wear on any point!

There is a JVC headunit in the car at the mo which i bought not long after i got the car so that i can plug me iPhone into it...now assuming i can source an OEM headunit (the car came with a knackered old Sony XPlod unit), i will be keeping the JVC one cos it wasnt exactly cheap!

Anything else i've missed, feel free to ask, as always i'll be happy to answer any questions etc :thumleft:

Now for the new photies (oh, and the car isnt orange in parts; its actually sunny outside for a change!)

going to get the car booked into the bodyshop to get a couple of minor niggles sorted in the next week or two.

£3000 takes the car as it is
£3150 takes the car with the bodywork bits done

honesty a must !

disapointed with our meeting on sunday 9th simon, especially after travelling all the way from glasgow to newcastle under the impression i was coming to buy a true un marked car.

your description on IMOC describes the car as in "excellent condition" and only mentions two small stone chips near the end of your thread.

your derscription on pistonhesds (to which you sent me a link to and directed me to) describes the car as "never seen a bodyshop, paintwork is all original and immaculate; with not a single stone chip".............

before sending you the deposit i asked "is there anything untoward i should know about eg. scuffs, dents or panels that dont line up ?" to which you said "none"

Both these descriptions are a fair bit away to where the car actually is and i am disapointed you failed to mention the damage even when i asked.

Hence i feel i should write this post so as any other IMOC user that wants to buy your car knows about the true condition of the car.

The minor niggles you mention in your last post (after my visit) are as follows: both skirts require painting, drivers door has a dent and a 2" (approx) score which is through to parent metal (this score has been poorly "repaired"/painted), the nearside roof to body panel also has a dent and an area of approx 2" that has also seen a poor repair/paint job, you mentioned only 2 stone chips....... i seen many more with many more lighter scratches.

I realise this is a 12 year old car and wear and tear is expected but all of us on this club appreciate what we are looking at and can appreciate quality cars and conditions.

Dont get me wong the car is reletively tidy, infact the mechanical condition and internal condition is what originally drew me to this car and they are both really good.

i feel this post is a fair reflection on the cars condition, unfortunatly i travelled over 400 miles that day under false impressions ...........

hopefully someone will feel this car is for them and are willing to ignore or properly repair the flaws, unfortunatly that someone wasnt me............

Skittles.
