Re: boost problem :(
ok, took my downpipe off again today and found the wastegate was stuck open.
looks like it had got caught on either the flange on the downpipe which i have ground down or the gasket which i have trimmed slightly but may have to put the original on if its still catching.
the good thing about all this is the fact i can have it off and back on again within 3hours so if anyone needs a downpipe fitting up north or in the midlands then i could do it at a price
(its not a very enjoyable job)

ill let you know if ive cured it.

cheers

alex.

Re: boost problem :(
ok went up to the sherburn in helmet meet nd hit full boost a few timess aand still spooling up early so problem seems to be solved.
tomthumb if you look at your wastegate and take a peek at the shaft coming out of it then if its stuck open the shaaft will be shiny aand polished where it is usually inside the wastegate like mine was.
unfortunetly you are gonna have to take the downpipe off again
.

my cars spooling fine now and isnt blowing on the exhaust anymore but due to the wet weather and the engine being open for over 3hours ive got water ingress in my ignition system causing a miss fire.

solve one problem, cause another.

Me and a friend took the car apart AGAIN.

only to discover that the actuator arm was rubbing on the downpipe gasket
and someone at sometime has drilled holes in the turbo pipes from the turbo, in an attempt to bleed air away from the actuator and the vsv.

Also, the turbo shaft, we had a little feel and there is some play, no forwards or backwards.
but up and down, about 1 mm.

im gonna put it back together after changing the gasket and see what happens.

iv enclosed a picture of the pipe comming from the actuator to show you the size of the hole.

Re: boost problem :(
put it all back together thismorning, worked find then started doing it again later in the day.
has anyone here installed a new actuator before? it may be the new course of action.
