EarL.

so why does ryan from 2bar tuning map cars to run 1.2bar if it's that bad?

I'll find ut when he maps mine this month

Time I gave this an update from the last 18 months

Delimiter fitted

I popped round to my mates garage to use his facilities to change my brake and do an engine service
I installed brand new 40 grooved disc's from CRN products, Brand new Goodridge brakelines in Carboblack colour, new set of Red stuff pads and fresh motul 5.1 brake fluid.
Some before and after pics

Car feels much better when stopping and very good sharp response.
Also my new Whiteline Anti roll Bars turned up from camskill (next day delivery)

These are the heavy duty adjustable bars. These will work nicely with the Polybushes i have and make the handling that little bit better.
I'll be dropping this into Pacific works to get installed and straight away pop over to Wheels In Motion (WIM) for a geometry set up

Finally got round to fitting my custom made Plazma dials i bought from Speedhut.com

Dismantle first

I then moved onto renewing my suspension componants.

Thanks to Luke @ Pacific works for helping me out and getting the polybush kit and got my long awaited Whiteline adjustable anti roll bars installed for me.

The difference this has made to the handling is like night and day

Works well and improved the handling just that little bit more.

Over the weekend i fitted an "other" intercooler to the mr2, This time a Pheonix Power Intercooler. This IC is know to be the best sidemount intercooler (SMIC) for the MR2.

Here it is compared to the now old IC which is a 4inch core.

I was missing the turbo hot pipe with the kit so i asked the guys at Garage D in watford to put their expertiese into the build and got them to make me a 1 off hot pipe. With in no time at all Walton got cracking into making the mock up:

Then julien took over and finished the welding and also added a vacuum pipe connection and a port connection for the BOV to be put in place together with he added samco joiner hose. Walton also made up a bracket for the BOV without no mark up just perfect eye detailing and made the bracket first time without no mistakes

And end product

To say the least the guys from Garage D have done an excellant job at doing this and their fabrication skills is fantastic.

Engine bay now needs a bit of attention for dress up which sach has done a few bits for me.

I added a set of red rear side reflectors as found on the USDM version mr2,

Old with the amber

New with the Red

With the red ones you can wire these us so they can be on for your side lights, i'm considering doing this in the future.

Just some new parts that will be going on the Forged build

Titanium Valve Springs
Image
Image

Aftermarket Air intake Sensor - This replaces the stock item that badly gets heat socked. This will also react quicker for the intake temp readings.
Image
Image

Exhaust Heat wrap from Driftworks
Image

Fidenza friction plate for the flywheel, ARP flywheel bolts, 6 puc clutch
Image

I had to change the rocker cover as the one i had on there had a crack and p1$$ing oil over the engine bay.

Once again sach sorted me out with painting a new one for me in Candy Red

Disassembly from start to finish

The Fault
Image
Image

After suffering the usual siezed caliper fault on the front drivers side (this is common to happen and is just one of them things that let go)

so instead of getting new calipers, pads and disc's again as a direct replacement i opted for a different route.

Gaz on the MR2OC made up a big brake bracket using a nissan 4pot caliper from the S14a. However it was proven that you can use the calipers from the R33 gtst, 300zx.

Cailpers: I went with the 300zx alloy 4pot calipers which are lighter than the stock mr2 calipers

Disc's: ill be using are Toyota supra TT uk spec 323 x 23 disc's. Genuine toyota items which i got with a 25% discount from steven eagle toyota

Pads: DS25000's

New vs Old

With the new bracket on and before the shield was removed

Fitted behind the 17inch wheel
