decided to go with Elites in Rainham as already reccommended by a member - they have them in stick - total price £241 inc vat and fitting..

Just wanted to try and find a more local place, but NO ONE else seems to stock these tyres...

One place I rang uo in Catford, laughed when I told him the sizes I needed.. said that someone was winding me up! (idiot..) said that I had an MG - told him no it was a MR2.. he said that I should put all same sizes on and they should be either Nangwangs or budget... Ummm then he continued to laugh at me for wanting different sizes..

Someone in background asked what he was laughing at - he told them - they then said - yes!! shes right! they are diff sizes...

after a lot of ummmmm's he put the other person on the phone... said hes sister has an MR2 and thay ideally I should fit toyo's...

I explained that was what I had asked for...

Ahhhh what idiots.. Im all wound up now.... but then again I bet that bloke who laughed at me feels a right pratt now...........

If you like discounts join up as a Premium member for £7.50 per year...you will get some more..
There is a button on the panel above. Once joined you will also get a club sticker for your car and access to the 'Premium Member' forum.

Officially the Elite discount is for premium members but i am not sure if they enforce this or not..... :-k

om planning on joing as a proper member anyway.. just got to work out how to do it lol..

thought itd be nice to be a Real member :D

was looking to see if there were any local ish events happening at some point but dont seem to be.. did see a france roads trip - but not sure if it was on this site..?

but sounded fun to me..

hubby bought the tool that was recommended to check the pre-cat thingys - got one of the snap on man today at work, last time i spoke to him he said it was looking like they had been taken out already ! but that seems a bit strange on a 24k car... and especially as the previous owner didnt use the car... cant see why he would have done it.. and tbh surprised he knew... as he dont seem to have been that clued up on the MR2 things - seeing as he just paid out for new tyres that are apparently totally unsafe for that particular car...

Thanks for your support Lesley. :thumleft:

As for meets, its just getting into the meet/show season now.
I see you are in Kent. Brands Hatch has a double header event of the MR2 Championship next weekend (25th April) and a few of us are going to have a watch.

and

There is the RAF Duxford meet on the 3rd May which is going to the biggest of the year so far.

Was a great show last year, plenty of other car clubs, full access to all the museum's and also a small air display. Payment is on the gate for this event. You just need to turn up!

Then there is the BHP show at Lydden Race Circuit in Kent. There is no stand arranged for this one but a few of us will be spending the day there. Again, was a great show last year. Was good watching others on the track.

16th May at Castle Combe see's the first of the big Jap car shows and 'Japfest'. This will be big as we have teamed up with the MR2OC and having joint stands. We will have over 60 cars at this one. Unfortunately all advance tickets are now sold but you are more than welcome to come along, park in the general public car park and say hello!

There are other local meets and shows arranged throughout the year (no doubt you have had a peek in the Events forum already) but by far, the biggest and best show of the year, is JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza). It has moved around last few years (Billing, Peterborough and Mersea Island) and this year will be held in Northampton. Its by far the best attended event of the year and its a real 3-day event with camping etc.

There is a complete forum section dedicated to JAE.
Pop in and have a look. :thumleft:

Will be good to see you at a show.
