Had to drive 40miles myself in the snow on Monday. It was bloody horrible. Hate driving the 2 in these conditions but I have no choice really. Had to get home...

Here's hoping there's not too many more incidents...

That at least gives you the opportunity to replace it with something a bit less like a block of wood ;)

Had a better look at the damage last night :(

Where the front bulk head meets the inner wing (or the inside of the frunk) is seriously bent and come away from seams.

So all the right hand side of the frunk is bu88ered, it's either going to cut out and a need a new piece welding in or beaten straight and welded along the seams again.

Not a happy bunny, stupid white slippery stuff!

Finally got round to taking a pic, shall get some more over the weekend

As you can see the right hand side actually went right under the van, all the headlamp mountings are bent to bu88ery and the tip of the bulkhead behind the lamp is bent back too.

Shall get some more pics to show all the damage

I'm sorry to say but that looks like a definate insurance write-off. It might be more difficult to sort out if the bulkhead is bent.

It's only third party so I don't think the insurance company can write it off? Correct me if I'm wrong, never had an accident before so I'm in the dark.

Here's a couple of more pics of the damage

Well I guess what ever happens to your car is of no consequence for the insurance company. Shame you only have third party insurance though. I guess realistically if you had FC then it'd be a definate write off... just about anything will write off a £1500 car I would think.

So I guess you can either try to repair it or re-shell/sell for parts. It's really a matter of finding out how much it would cost you to repair, as doing the inner wing stuff and sorting out the bulkhead could be expensive. If it's going to cost you anywhere near a grand to get it fixed i'd doubt it's worth it really. If you can do it for less than £500 then you may as well. It all depends on what the car means to you.

That's the way I was going to look at it too, anything over £500 and I think I'll break it for bits.

The bonnet needed a respray anyway

Always look on the bright side eh? :D

Thats bad luck Stealthy. Miche put her mk3 into the back of somebody during the snowy spell too but luckily only broke the number plate holder on the front and no damage at all to the girl she hit. £30 for a new plastic holder and we're good as gold. It's pot luck sometimes really.
Hope it gets sorted fella and you get to keep the car. How long have you owned it and how attached are you? Keep us updated with the progress.

Cheers, i've had it since the begining of october last year, usually only have cars for a couple months before changing them, so this one is doing quite well.
I'm definately attached to it, have everything I want to do to it planned out and have a new set of wheels for it sitting in the garage, so really don't want to scrap it.
