just wondering, do the hd4870x2 and the gtx260 only use 1 pci-e slot?
as my pc isnt too bad but it only has 1 pci-e slot..
heres my specs
athlon amd 64bit x2 dual core processor 4600+
2.40ghz
with 3gig ddr2
if i added one of those cards how do u think it would handle crysis? i ask because my bro wants a new pc but cant really afford to much, all the parts in my pc are relativly cheap now so if those parts could run it quite well with one of the 2 graphics cards it may be cheaper for him to get the same parts as me with a decent grapics card.

Yes they take one slot but also alot of power. The GTX260 is about £200, HD4870 £180 and the HD4870x2 £350.

My HD4870 gives me 30fps on decent settings.

you might need overclock your cpu a little

if you have good cooling you should be able clock it to 3ghz machine

4870x2 are great chips but you will need about a 800w psu

how about a 48701gb recomended 600 watt psu

ok im sorry to be a pain but if i gave u guys some specs would you be able to tell me if it would run ok?
im looking at:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1GHz Socket AM2
Athlon 64 X2 Socket AM2 VIA K8T890 (mobo)
3gig ddr2
4870x2
with a 800w or 1000w psu

in total comes to around 550quid which seems fairly decent price to me.
i already have hdds case and disk drives so havent included those.

would that set up be ok for crysis and most other games on the market today? or for that price could i get something better?

Thats pretty much the same spec as my computer but i run a HD4870 512mb.

I would look at faster DDR3 ram and a newer CPU/mobo as the 6000 might bottleneck the performance of the 4870x2.

im an intel fan boy personally

a quad cpu is becoming the normal now for games

look into a q6600 ive got mine overclocked to run at 3.4ghz

1x HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express)
(£218.49)

1x Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - (£160.99)

1x Asus P5Q Deluxe Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
(£151.79)

Antec Quattro 850W PSU
(£120.74)

2x OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2 (OCZ2G8004GK)
(£78.18) so thats 8gb of ram

Total : £730.18

these prices are from overclockers but if u try ebuyer should drop the price alot

of forgot to add you will need a better cpu cooler than stock if your overclocking

put aside an extra 20 quid for a cpu cooler

the freezer pro 7 aint bad bang for buck
