I like messing. My new hobby is the gym. But I also like messing with the car.

Pete has all the time to work on your car mate. Mine is nowhere near sbits!! He's not done any work on my car since before Le Mans!

Right, being doing some more work on the car.

I decided to sort out the boot loom. My aerial has been removed and blanked off, with the 6 wire plug hanging, where it used to plug into the aerial. It also had all the additional wiring for the 4 brake/tail light wiring including 2 relays, which is all no longer required. The boot loom also looked untidy, so, I unwrapped the whole thing:

I cut the plug off the old aerial wiring, and pulled back the wires, and removed the aerial earth wire:

These were then cut back, insulated, and wrapped up.

Next, I bought tie wraps, 10mm conduit and Tesa loom tape:

Once I'd finished removing the unwanted wiring from the boot loom, I tested what was left and made sure everything worked as expected, before wrapping the loom!

I then began putting the wiring into the conduit and following up with wrapping in the Tesa tape. Once the loom was finished, I used black tie wraps where possible to secure it the against the chassis.

And the end result, which I'm pretty happy with, a tidy looking boot loom:

I've also put 12mm blanking grommet in the old aerial drain tube hole in the boot floor.

And that's it for now! :)

Polished up orange indicators look great. I've always liked the ginge look on a black car :thumleft: 8)

Cheers mate, you still having fun in the red plastic fantastic? :thumleft:

I was going to go for some all amber ones for the front, but decided against due to potential hassle with the cops/MOT, so played it safe with the UK rev 1-3 equivalents.

Nice to have the orange indicators matching all round though, I think it looks great. :thumleft:

Cheers buddy :)

A stock black bonnet, which has been power polished by Dave at DA going on the car tomorrow.

After that, I don't intend on changing anything else. Once the stock bonnet is on, the car's exterior will be standard apart from rear spats/diffuser, skirts and front lip. I think this all works together quite well with the exhaust. :thumleft:

As for the wheels, my Enkei RP-01 are here to stay. 17x9 ET38 rear and 17x8 ET38 fronts are perfect for the mk2. 8)

I see you've already started tinkering with the rev 5, tuned in! :D

We'll see  But I hope you will have finally built the car you've wanted :)

I'm still torn about what to do with mine to be honest. Changing just one thing (wheels for example) sets in motion a much wider change process. Wheels would need coilovers to correctly stance it. Wheels would then make me think about subtle body mods (which coincidentally I do have a vision in mind O:) ). It would obviously need to have an engine to match, as show without go is a no no.

Or I just leave it as is, work through the jobs list and keep it standard. Save the bigger ideas for the 240Z 8-[

Anyway, enough of my brain dumps in your thread, sorry  8-[

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with how the car currently is. My only regret now, is not driving it as much as I'd like.

This is just my opinion, and what I'd do with your car, if it was mine.

I'd be looking for a nice set of staggered jap wheels - 16s or 17s in the perfect offsets, followed by suspension upgrades.

Agree though, once that's done, it's hard not to then start looking at subtle body mods. I'd be looking Greddy sides, Aeroware front lip and Phoenix Power rear spats i.e. subtle kit.

Then V6, 3SGTE or 5SGTE engine.

As always, it's your car to do with as you see fit. MR2s are so addictive to play around with, and it'd be nice to see what you come up with! :)

As Dave at Deepcar Autobodies had polished and buffed my stock bonnet, I went up to Sbits, where Pete gave me a hand in fitting it to the car.

Just as the bonnet was fitted, it rattled it down :(

And a side shot:

I'd gone back to orange indicators here!

Yep, more than capable of fitting a bonnet. But the bonnet in question was being polished and buffed at deepcar autobodies, 2 units down from Petes workshop.

It's much easier with 2 people than one, so Pete gave me a hand fitting it. Simples.

Interesting theory that I shouldn't own an MR2 because someone gave me a hand fitting a bonnet.

Right, after a much needed 2 week holiday in Kos, I've done some more bits on the car....

First up, I was never happy with the cheap ebay DIN tray that isn't the right size to fit with the MR2 dash, so I purchased and fitted a factory Toyota DIN blank:

Image

As expected, fits perfectly!

Next, I turned my attention to the rusty radiator brackets. First, removed and sanded down:

Image

Bought some Hammerite rust treating, gloss black paint and gave them a coat:

Image

Image

Once dry, refitted to the car. Also cleaned the frunk area beneath the plastic shroud:

Image

Next, I cleaned up the plastic radiator cover. It was then refitted to the car, along with all 7 clips that fasten it down:

Image

I now have a full set of radiator cover, frunk liner and boot carpet clips in place. :thumleft:

Haha, I think we're on a par mate. I probably change bits on my car as much as you change cars

No Veilside kit I'm afraid

The car is not changing colour, but its looks will be changing considerably..... :-#

Right, an update to detail the winter project.

The bodykit is being removed from the car in favour of factory bodywork.

I purchased an import rear bumper, a pair of stock black side vents, and and lastly, to complete the stock bodywork, I purchased a stock rev 3 lip off here:

The car will be going in over winter to have the screw holes filled in where the skirts were, then sills, rear bumper and front lip painted.

And that completes my winter plans for the car.
