On with the show....

I dropped the tank out for Walbro fitting....

Image

Image

Then removed the chassis mount on the drivers side.... no going back now.... this is only needed with Evora hardware, sane people normally use Goukys mount, but that won't work in my case because i am using the Evora idler and bracketry.

Anyway, off with the mount....

Image

There is more cleaning and grinding to do here, but you get the idea.

So the first step is to make a mount on the drivers side of the engine, at the moment i have nothing, so i made this from scratch....

Image

Image

Image

That turned out pretty well, i am going to add this side plate and tie it into another bolt hole...

Image

Now that the engine has a mount, i will dummy fit the engine with a S54 gearbox, hang it on all three of its gearbox mounts and then make a chassis hanger bracket that catches my new engine mount. At that stage the engine will come back out, seam weld and seal the chassis back up, paint it and rehang the engine with the 6 speed gearbox attached, that will allow me to make the three new gearbox mounts.

Good stuff mate, really like that engine mount with the side plate. I'll try to get over later on in the week to see how things are coming along.

It'll be running by the time you get here :)

Ok, the first dummy fit has taken place, i bolted an empty S54 gearbox casing onto the 2gr purely for alignment purposes and hung it in the bay. Things were so tight on the drivers side chassis rail that i have had to go in to this mount from the inner wing, so i'm fabricating and tack welding through a letterbox!

The mount sides will be tacked this way and later when the engine comes back out i will fully seam weld and seal the mount properly, along with a reinforced double skin plate on the inner wing, in theory it should be stronger than before. There was just no room to tack weld from above or inside the engine bay so this was the only way forward.

The new chassis hangers in place....

Image

My access from the inner wing and cardboard mount templates...

Image

With everything tacked in situ and aligned to the nearest mm it the engine was hanging under its own weight....

Image

Image

I will even get away with a turbo engine lid here...

Image

Decent clearance on the belt side....

Image

So this will come back out now, weld the chassis back up and the next time it goes in it will have its new 6 speed attached.

Coming along nicely mate. I'm pleased we can retain the turbo lid. It is a bit tight down the drivers side.

For the third time, i'm building both of them lol, but sadly i haven't achieved the ability to do two at exactly the same time :D

Phils will get done immediately after mine, i have made jigs of everything on mine so his will be ten times easier.

So my extended 6th gear set arrived for the EB60, 0.659:1 , that should give me a nice low cruise RPM.

The project stalled a little while waiting for my 6 speed to clear customs, finally it will be with me on Monday, in the meantime i bought a Nur spec...

Image

I've fitted these before on customers 2gr swaps and they sound amazing and really let the engine breathe.

Believe it or not they're actually pretty refined and not loud at all , I think it has more to do with the exhaust pulses, they sound epic on this system under load though.
