come in anything or cadge a lift, its members opinions that are needed. As you may have gathered i am dismayed at the apathy of the general membership. even if people dont say anything they can raise a hand. you get in free as well !

The location of the MR2 mk1 club race car needs to be discussed, especially as KPM who had the car on free loan (and then hired it out), went bust.

I was thinking about the car the other day actually.

I'll drop Stuart an e mail.

 I didnt know that !, did the club receive any monies from the hire of the car then :-k if not who gave permission for the car to be hired in the first place ?.

Kev, its seems the same old story, you can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink mate :-k ,
Mind you i have a feeling the first person to moan about anything & didnt turn up at the AGM will get jumped on

Hi & welcome to the world of mk1s :thumleft:  glad we have an enthusisatic soon to be member in our midst, we need guys like yourself :thumleft: it seems we have too many "so called " members who shout from the sidelines & not enough who actually care enough about their club to do anything constructive, they seem to do a lot of chatting on here though Mmmm :-k hence the reason the same old faces turn up at the AGM, ooops gone off at a tangent again #-o  your very welcome aboard, lets see some pics of your mk1, doesnt matter what condition its in either, doesnt have to be mint to be in the club or even at a show :thumleft: , Jinxy

Yes one of the many reasons I didnt join the mk1 club again. MK1 club members weren't offered the car, KPM was, as he had been using it the year before and aparently replaced everything (but that was the point of the car, bend it mend it- incedently my gearbox was in the car at one point) then they hired it out for ~£600 per double header race last year IIRC. At one point the person driving wasnt even a mk1 club member.

Stuart knew about it, no monies as I was aware were "donated" to the mk1 club.

interesting. there will be no way of recovering any money from the `hire`as i suspect it was done on a cash basis but Stuart may be able to tell us more. the car should be back in the hands of the club though. even if it never races again the car / parts can be sold for club funds. could it not be hired out by the club maybe by the season to a member for racing ? its an asset not recorded or utilised. lets face it if it was logoed at least it would be advertising the club. boy do we need some publicity and members !

Thanx for the warm welcome Jinxy :thumleft:
Ive got loads of pictures of everything ive done to the car so far, unfortunatley they all seem to be too high a resolution for me to stick on here! :? Ive sent a lot of pictures off to Steve Bishop at MR2 Only magazine to see if he could run a multipart series/feature on the car, im just waiting for him to get back to me but he seems pretty keen. Hopefully help to promote the AW11 a bit too! Anyways im probably in the wrong forum for discussing this so thanks again. :D

I'm worried about this car thing too.

One of my points to be raised at the AGM is the recording of club assets, flags, gazebos etc, and we have a whole car floating about somewhere, unrecorded and with no income received from it.

Hell, Phil and I could have entered it into the Sprint Series if we'd known!!!

Anyway, I've contacted Stuart and the issue will be raised at the AGM. Thanks for the heads up Tim.

Is it ok to just turn up on the day? No promises, depends which side of the bed i get out of.

What time are people arriving?

As someone who looks at the forum regularly,i only noticed this was taking place yesterday. I very rarely look at 'stickys'.

Just wonder how many other members didn't know?

Those members who do not read the magazine may not be aware, but apart from that, everyone should know.

I'd put your name down Ziggy, and then if you can't turn up don't worry about it. Perhaps put 'provisional' or something next to it.

The car had no log book, hence no MOT as far as i know, hence no good for the sprint (i'd already thought of that)

The engine was replaced, gear box, amd was then re-shelled as it rusted away, so it really was a triggers broom of a car which were all KPMs bits in the end. Difficult one really.

BTW i tried loads to get the car stickered up to no avail.

The whole concept was bend it mend it tho, so if I had it for 3 years and it rotted in that time it would be my responsibility to fix. not to mention the amount of times it was crashed (and lauren drove into it  )

The gearbox and engine blowing was through use, therefore should have been replaced under the same concept.

i agree but thats history now so lets just think about getting it back. it could be its not worth the effort but it must have a cage ,seat etc so is worth something to the club. its all funds we can use.

Yep have to agree with both Kev & Tim on this one, it was / is a club asset & as such should have been recorded, i wish things had been a bit tighter, this hiring of the car & no money back to club funds would never had happened, glad Vix is on board now :thumleft: , seems we have a few other things to discuss at the AGM after all, keep em coming  , Jinx
