Nick Turner MR2 Project Thread *JAP PERFORMANCE SHOOT*
Thought I would do a proper WIP post from the very start. This is my MR2 Turbo as built by Xquisite.
Brought the car in December 2003 as the 2nd UK owner (First being the importer)
Car came lowered with TOMS skirts front and rear bumpers later spec wheels HKS Exhaust and induction
Took the car to a RR and had it come out at 266bhp which I was really pleased with
First real change to the car was the addition of clear side repeaters and a veilside spoiler
After that came a set of gold chrome lexus style rear lights and clear front side lights and 17 chrome Ziniki Ikeda wheels
Then came a small install 2x 10 Infinity Subs components and a 4chan amp
For a short time I had the toms intake on the car then thought it looked gash by the hour so I took it off and flogged it
Then came the vertical doors
Changed the wheels for a set of Magline light weight racing wheels for a feature with J Tuner magazine
Then picked up a 2nd hand Apexi AVC-R
Had the car on the dyno again but it actually came out with no more power despite having the boost turned up to 1 and 1.2 bar. Found out it was because the tuner didnt reset the cars ecu to take into account the apexi and didnt turn up the duty
Spotted an MR2 in Malta that had a Celica Headlight conversion done to it. (whos car bizzarley enough years later I end up writing a feature on)
Had a friend photoshop a picture of the MR2 with a border front end on it with a set of Celica lights
Approached Autovision in Bristol about doing the conversion and was quoted but realistically the money was to high for me to consider doing it.
Took the car back into the bodyshop that did my doors to have a fiber glass bonnet fitted and sprayed. It was also due to have the border front bumper fitted but the seller pulled out last min. The bodyshop pi$$ed me about for 3 weeks and ended up painting the bonnet a tottaly different colour to the rest of the car and the fit was awful. The car never actually came out with the bonnet on I told them to remove it and I sold the bonnet on.
After not knowing what bodyshop to use I took a trip to see K at Xquisite as I had heard a lot about him. After talking to him and getting a quote I decided the photoshop of the Celica lights looked to good not to do and it was only a matter of time before someone else was to catch onto the idea so I booked the car into have it done.
Got in contact with XS Power and had one of there exhaust fitted up after the HKS gave up its game
Car went cover of MR2only magazine
Car had a few decals fitted for a show
Car went back into Xquisite for its next make
Front end was tightned up a lot more than it was previously
Ordered new wheels
Fitted border rear spats to be blended into the TOMS rear and picked up a rare Bomex rear spoiler which has had the airel smoothed out
Had the bonnet tidyed up which has always been an ar$e on this car
18 10w rear wheels fitted up
During all this was constant trips to Xquisite to discuss colours as it still wasnt decided, I was original set ok HOK tangeren orange with K advising a flat blue paint which I was against. It wasnt until K explained what could be done to wheels and interior that I put faith in him. The car was painted and K sent me WIP pics. I didnt like it
Until he sent me this picture! This was the first picture I saw of my car that I actually got excited over
First pro pic of my car taken before I even collected it by Jaymond
Picked up a few Vibe bits
Had it all installed by sound secure
Took the car to D:Class for a full alcantara re-trim
Picked up a set of Bomex mirrors which I had been looking for for years
And had the car shot for the cover of FastCar magazine Jan 2008-06-04
Came first in the Clubland competition and had it shot for there calendar
Had a shoot with Yoco magazine (feature out in June/July 2008-06-04
Had the car shot for Pimpster feature
Took the car to Ireland and had an incident with a petrol station forecourt causing a fair bit of damadge to the front bumper and wing
Had repairs done at Xquisite and had the lambos removed as they were becoming a pain to deal with
Also had K tint the rear lights
Took the car into 3S aka Toyota GT to have an uprated greddy stage 1 clutch fitted, down pipe and uprated intercooler. Found out from this that I had a really tired turbo on the car and quite a bad water leak.
Had the Turbo changed for a better condition one and the water pump replaced.
Car currently isnt boosting as well as it should be not 100% sure on the problem but have been told its likely the wastegate.
Had the rear track rod snap on me on the M25 sending the car side ways but luckly not causing any damadge.
Had both track arms replaced.
Took the car to GTI Tuning france and was awarded a top 20 trophy
When in france a few weeks back a guy from a spanish mag did some pics of the MR2 for a feature in Maxi tuning magazine.
Car shot on 26th July by Tony Matthews for GTI Tuning France.
Quick update.
Xquisite Automotive have repaired and painted both front and rear bumpers.
Maxi Tuning feature is published in Issue 140 (7 Pages)

My car just came back from Century Motorsports, its now running sweet as! its pulling hard and making the boost it should be. No more dodgy idle!
Also they sorted me out with some powder coating at a wickid price and even threw in a hydrolic engine strut for me to replace the broken engine prop

Thats alot of work you have done to the car mate but to be fair the car looks amazing!!
There is only one thing that im not keen on and thats the light conversion, not saying it looks bad but i suppose its because im a fan of the pop up lights!
I bet all of that work cost a fortune!!
Well done

Re: Nick Turner MR2 Project Thread *JAP PERFORMANCE SHOOT*
Ive always been a fan of this car. Was the first celica mr2 I had seen and I loved it. Also saw it in a mag when it was with the toms kit and liked it then.
TBH I was disappointed when you went with the blue colour. I find it too pale and ruins that car for me but the awards it has makes a mockery of my view. I love the work with the rear also, great bomex wing and smoothing the Border spats into the Toms rear was awesome.
All round great car just the wrong colour for me.

Had the car filmed yesterday for Police Interceptors
http://demand.five.tv/Series.aspx?serie ... terceptors
It was basicly to make people aware of what mods would make your car illigal. Done in a very over the top cheesy way but quite entertaining!
they parked the car outside this car accessory place, the presenter sat in the car got out the car patted it on the roof, put on a real cheesy over the top sort of girlie girl act.
Walked in the shop ran around it with a trolley picking up a 19" wheel, tinted window film blue lights and ANYTHING!! pink she could find!
Went outside where Mr police man stood and she kept telling him that her car was to blue she wanted to add some pink to it. He went through why she shouldn't tint the side front windows, she should make sure the arches cover the wheels, cant put blue flashy lights on the front etc.
Being aired in March at 8pm Friday on Channel 5 and fiver.
few piccys and videos

I saw this car at trax last year and the quality of the body work is really high - I would post some pictures for you BUT it was such a wet day that water got into my camera and killed it
Car is a credit to you and all the hard work.
