handbrake issue

Post by si2040 »

Hi Guys,

Just have a MR2 that has a weak handbrake. I've changed the cables etc but still quite weak could it be the calipers just not biting enough...anyone have any ideas?

if you have fitted new cables it probably just needs adjusting
did you leave the adjustment rod alone? (before and after fitting cables)

just to make sure we are on the same page, threaded rod with 2 x 12mm nuts and a spring on the end and goes through a plate that the cables attatch to

Try the guide on here http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... ake+nobble. There is another version posted by Paul too but I can't find that one, I did this 2 weeks ago to get it to pass MOT. Worked a treat :thumleft:
