Seized Brake Caliper Piston

Evenin All,

To cut a long story short, I had to take my front brake calliper of today as I had a suspicion it was binding, as the disc was getting really hot, and there was an overwhelming smell of brake fumes.

Anyway, once I got it of it became apparent that one of the pistons has seized. Unfortunately i thought it would be a good idea to hit it with a hammer to see if i could free it up, but all I succeeded in doing was knocking it the whole way in, and now its stuck.

Is there a special tool to remove the piston so i can refurb it or would it be better purchase a refurbed one, like the ones from camskill?

I used Rogue for a refurbed caliper.

I cleaned the piston up and it only lasted about a month.

I had a seized calliper last week.....used a vice to get the part that was stuck out. (doesn't sound like that would work with your though)

I needed 1 calliper (but I like to get 2 of most things on my car even if only one needs replacing)

I ended up taking mine to a local garage and getting them to blow it out with an airline. Took 5 seconds and they didn't charge me for it

diy method: unbolt caliper but leave brake line connected.
Wedge a block of wood between good piston & inside of caliper to stop this one moving.
Wrap a big rag around it all stop brake fluid going everywhere.
Step on the brake pedal - the seized piston will pop out
