Annoying trip to Gamestation !

So ive got three days off work and thought i might finally go and pick GRID up from my local Gamestation so i can do some online racing with my fellow IMOC and OC members.......some friendly sport if you like.

Any way i make the journey into town ( I live miles away from proper civilization) and arive at gamestaion. Now being a couple of good weeks after Christmas i expected there to be atleast 20 pre-owned copies of GRID in the rack, any way i could not find one in the hundreds of pre-owned copies of games........however i did find PURE which i had my eye on for ages and there was a 2 for £38 so just needed to find another worthy title to come home with me.

I went up to the counter and asked if they had got any copies of GRID........they did not have any brand new but stated they had one pre owned copy and produced the disc from the drawer !!! so it was in the 2 for £38........my luck was surely in !!!!!!!

OR WAS IT........................

After waiting 20 minutes stood at the counter the guy could not find the bloody box !!!!!!! So i started to help him but neither of us could find it..

So i asked if they could knock some money off and i would still take GRID and PURE , but GRID with no box.......they said no...how ridiculous !!!! so i left with nothing

Did i do the right thing or should i have had it without the box ? I just thought ive got no chance of a trade in without a box or even a swap.

I've noticed a few people selling "spare" boxes on eBay - pikey robbers no doubt, they can't get the game but they can steal the box and sell it for 99p.

What about Gamestation online?

This use to happen alot for PS2 games, chipped boxes playing copied games and people wanting the original box so they steal it from a shop.

Exact same thing has happened to me twice in GAME. "erm...got the disc but no box"....thats fine I'll take it anyway....."ERM...NO CANT DO THAT SORRY."

Its was just my luck mate......they could have atleast knocked off a couple of quid.....after all im paying for the box aswell right !!! It was almost as bad as trying to barter in Comet......impossible.

I wouldnt buy a game without a box. Unless we're talking a fiver or something silly cheap.

I found out recently my sister in law throws away the boxes for my neices Wii games.
I was mortified

She does the same with DVD's and CD's.

What on earth is the point in buying things like that brand new then throwing away the packaging. Just buy it cheap 2nd hand surely?

I have had the opposite before. Preowned box on the shelf. Can't find the disc when I tried to buy it. It must have been somewhere, it's not like people trade in empty boxes now is it? And if someone was going to steal it, they may as well get the box off the shelf on the way out, they've already found a way to get the disc out of a drawer behind the counter FFS!

She doesnt like the space the boxes take up. She keeps all discs in CD wallet type things.
