if MS have copied anyone its nintendo for the avatar system.

they just made it better.

even if they do release a type of home for the xbox thats still only one thing they would of taken from sony.

...aside from the whole idea of creating a console
It was Sony's massive market share in such a short space of time that prompted MS into action.

even so, didnt take em long to catch up and become the innovator.

sega failed, nintendo, well i dont really know about nintendo. they make about 3 good games and have a console that sells like mad.

not sure there in the same class as sony and ms anymore.


theres even rumours this console has cost sony so much that there wont be another console from them.

Sony were advertising for programmers earlier this year for their "next gen" console, Specifically they were asking for people with emulation experience to help bring PS1,2 & 3 software onto the next machine.

& GT5 will be out before Home

You should know now Sam that if you like Xbox's your Bills b1tch or a Fanboy. But if you like the PS then there's no such stigma.


I do think all the agruing is getting sad though. As far as I'm concerned once the actual game is on and playing there's no difference to see.


There's reasons why I prefer the Xbox and it has nothing what so ever to do with the quality of the games. It's purely down to not having to p1$$ around saving games to the HDD, not having to use the ancient control pad that gives me RSI after 25 seconds, preferring XBL to PSN and generally the menu systems on the XBOX over the PS.

That's nearly all a personal preference, I dont give a flying f about what machine has what processors (people sound SO SO sad when they bang on about that)

PS does have it's plus points though.

I think it actually looks a bit better than the Xbox. Although requires regular dusting!
It plays blurays which means it actually gets used a lot. Although had HD DVD come out on top I wouldnt have even bought a PS3.
It has a web browser of some sort.
In fairness if I hadnt ever played or owned a 360 I'd probably like it a lot more.

It's certainly better than the PS1 and PS2 which I thought were xxxx and that was nothing to do with their age as I liked older machines like the SNES and Megadrive much more.

I think it's sad (actually pathetic) that every thread descends in to Ps3 vs Xbox. That's not what they were started to talk about and IMO it just ends up ruining perfectly good topics.

Could you imagine if some one asked what was the best oil for their tubby and it turned into what's the best mk1 or mk2?
May be once, but then imagine if EVERY time time some one asked a question about their car it ended up in that same argument?

The mods would be all over it like a rash telling people to stay on topic.

Just as a record. I had a nes, snes, n64, mega drive, master system and a saturn before the ps1 came out. I got one of them to and sold it cause it was boring. The next console a bought was a ps2. Sold that cause it was boring. Have to say, if i didn't have the xbox though i'd show alot more interest in the ps3.

Tbf that was a great deal by MS to give something back to the early purchasers, sony never gave me anything for buying the ps1 and the ps2 on release day, well apart from the opportunity to buy a more stable model a year later

the original xbox didn't interest me, then one weekend i decided to hire it off a mobile games delivery thing, me and my mates all laughed at the size of it and the HUGE joypads but after playing halo on co-op all weekend (literally) i seen that it was a great console, i bought a chipped one a few months after and technically it p1$$e$ all over the ps2, it made a great media centre too and even played mp4s in terms of gens i'd put the original xbox in between the ps2 and the current gen, there's no way that the ps2 could run Halo, and the pads just weren't suited to FPS, having it chipped definitely swayed me more towards the xbox for playing games, but the same was true of the ps1, they sold tons more when the first chips became available.

I don't think MS ever thought the xbox would compete with the ps2 but it was just to try and "convert" some gamers away from sony, then when the next gen came around it wouldn't be an automatic choice of first console purchased.

It amazes me how personally some people take criticism of a console, why stick up for a multi-billion dollar corporation like it's your little brother? It's good to have choices, at the minute i'm still to buy a ps3 and can't justify the price when i already have a 360 that has all the games i need, i thought MGS would entice me but alas not
