Putting on my mr pedantic policemans helmet here....neither of those plates are legal! LOL
The top one has a yellow screw fixing in the middle of the "K" rendering it illegal so Marc could be fined £30 - see how daft it all is?!
TBH I'm pretty sure I could find something illegal with everyones plate if you really stick to the letter of the law. It was just an excuse IMO to pinch me for something. He most probably owns a subaru and has been wasted by an MR2 or something ;-')
BTW THe euro and GB symbols are legal but optional and if you have them you no longer require a oval GB sticker when travelling abroad

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
all this talk is making a fire burn inside, lol! gets to me the fact that these people we are meant to respect? when clearly what respect do the police have for themselves!!? like the people who got bullied at school gettin there own back, like referees

they're meant to be the people we look up to.
.
.i don't think soooo but i defo agree bout there target list, last thing i heard was snooker pull overs about how many colours of cars they can pull over and then they get a certain amount of points for each colour.
whether this is true or not i don't know but i wouldn't put it past them!

they're meant to be the people we look up to.

I left them though, if you like you can see the
£30 as a charge for having tinted windows, or an altered num plate!
James
HaHaHaHa, worth it IMO![]()

Once a year, you get pulled and charged![]()

Well i've had the car for 4 years, and it's had the window tint all that time and i've only been pulled once!

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
just got a
£30 fine for my number plate! i hate them sooooooooooooooo much!!! saturday night and nothin better to do than tell me that my spacing is wrong on my number plate! thanks a xxxxxx lot for helping me again officer!

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
So lemme get this right.
.
.
.
Person drives around with an illegal number plate, and Im assumng they have the intelligence to know it is illegal, and then that person complains when they get fined for it?
Ok.
.
.
.
Im guessing the policemans viewpoint would be something like: Spotted someone with an illegal number plate.
Gave them a fine as law says.
Wish they wouldnt do this type of thing, then I could spend more time focusing on more important matters.

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
must say i've had my plate since 2003 always displayed like this:
T11NE
C and always in standard uk fonts with no silly slogans or logos,i've failed one mot
(honda main dealer) and been pulled once and given the
£30 fine by a 2 traffic policemen, one who was so old he had to get his glasses out to read his ruler while he was measuring the spacing and the other one who was so dumb he told me that
"its not safe in th event of an accident we might not know who you are" i decided not to point out the fact he spotted the plate in a busy high street on a saturday, the bit that pee'd me off was them deciding to do a full roadside inspection of my car, even though they new it was only 4 months old, luckily its not an endorsable offence so i just drove to the police station, paid the fine and drove off, all with the plate still on the car

Have to say i agree.

Whether spacing of digits really matters is not important, the law is quite clear.

The OP chose to value his vanity above the law and paid the penalty.

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
i understand what you guys mean and i would understand if my number plate was unclear or hard to read even more though coz i defo agree with plates when u try to struggle what it says but i honestly dont see what the problem is.
coulda at least tell me it's not right and get it done rather than giving a fine for it as i got it as a present from my dear family.
thing that annoyed me the more was the fact that he came screaming after me.
musta been doin 75+ in a 40.
all i was thinking was what idiot is this behind me and admitted he tried doin me for speeding but at end of the day i wasnt
i'll have to get it changed but i still dont agree with the fine!

Agreed 100%

Agreed too.![]()
But those who choose to show their disrespect by breaking those laws should be man enough to take the penalties without crying about it.

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
Pretty much what Peter said above.
Wether any of us agree with the law or not, its irrelevent.
Its the law and thats that at the end of the day.
Not a lot any of us can do about it.
Either avoid the fine, which is easily done, or accept the fine if you get pulled for it.
Ive picked up 9 points for speeding in the last year and a bit and each time I got caught I was a maximum of 6 mph over the limit.
I wasnt happy each time I got caught, but I always knew that it was my foot on the loud pedal and didnt go whinging about how unfair it was.

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
I recently got the
£30 fine too, for having a totally legal font/spaced/size plate on the rear, but it was white with black letters.
Paid my fine and got a lovely letter from the dvla warning me that if any other numberplate offences are made, they will take the plate from me
(as its there property, not mine) and Q-Plate my car

bit much if you ask me, as it could still be easily read by the machines, and still nobody can tell me why they have to be yellow?

Re: [All] [Generic] A Policeman Is Your Friend - NOT!!!
The white on the front and yellow on the back assists oncoming traffic in the dark to know whether your coming towards them or heading away.
Kit car owners with stick on number plates will be pleased to know that theyre ilegal too ;-')

In answer to your other question...
(3) This paragraph requires the plate to be fixed -
(a) vertically or, where that is not reasonably practicable, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practicable
