Played for about 2 hours and havent been scared once yet. Hate to say, though the game play is nice the story is so far very same old same old and the graphics arent exactly ground breaking.

You playing the same game mate!?

(Back)Story is excellent, game story doesn't explain it that well which is a shame. Graphics and lighting are excellent.

Play it in the dark with the surround cranked right up...sounds amazing!! 8)

Its not that scary true but some parts will definately make you jump/on edge. 8) :thumleft:

Comdemned still wins in the atmosphere/shock tactics.

Nah, fear for me. Never forget the first time i heard that little girl giggle, appear then vanish. I shat a brick! I have now played dead space in the dark with the surround cranked up. Makes it oh so much more enjoyable. Thai, is it worth picking up that dvd i linked to?

without surround games seem so boring, been use to playing games at home with the surround sound, took my 360 to my parents house the other day and the game just had no life on stardard tv speakers

I could feel my heart thumping while going around the first chapter and I was on edge all of the time but I am more chilled about it now. Sort of like on horror films where the hero is terrified to start with but as the film progresses they turn into a monster killing badass!

The sounds are brilliant. The way you can hear the baddies scuttling through the vents keeps you on edge because you never know where one might show up. I hate(love?) the fact that a monster can creep up behind you while you are panicing, trying to dismember another one and start beating you up. Que me flailing my melee attack around in terror :P

I got to chapter three but I turned it off because my family were in bed and I would rather play this with the sounds up. The most annoying monster I have come across so far are the ones that crawl on the floor, they are mean buggers and its harder to dismember them because of their low profile.

I'm finding upgrades to be a pain because there are so many that I want I never know what to get. I like the way they tempt you with locked doors that take the same things that are used for upgrades. I used one on a door but in hindsight I think I should have kept it for an upgrade.

I ignore locked doors. Seem to be able to find a way there eventually. Either another route to that room/other side or it becomes unlocked eventually. Upgrades kinda confuses me lol. Not that clear cut, and I'm not sure what all this air malarky is all about. Have not had to refill yet, don't see a specific "air" bar anywhere either.

Melee button is inda crap, especially when there's

Mat you playing in HD mate? Sure you're not conected via scart or something lol. Graphics are stunning and I'm pretty impressed. the atmosphere is pretty good, not Silent Hill scarey but definately tense. Got half way through chapter 2 and can't play it for a few days now :( gtta wait for some free time.

hdmi cable and full 1080p. I didn't say the graphics were bad, far from it. I just thought that with the wait and the hype it'd be a little more eye catching. The design of the monster things isn't exactly awe inspiring. As for air, you will know when you need it. It's not through out the game but parts require it. The upgrades are fairly clear. You select something to be upgraded and it tells you what it does. So you can hold more ammo, speed up reloading times, cause more damage (rated as points) and other things.

I get it, but all the nodes etc and following those different paths/upgrade start points when upgrading. Just doesn't sit right with me. Still not sure about this air thing. Only in chapter 2 so maybe I'll come across something when I get deeper into the game.

I'm 9.5 hours in now and on chapter 7.....LOVE it!! 8)

The nodes are easy to use ENS mate, just select the upgrade you want, damage, reload speed, extra ammo etc....doesn't matter what order you upgrade in just needs to have a high lighted node next to the one you want. :thumleft:

You do the same with all the powerups. The air is for when you go outside the ship...you can increase it with the nodes but I havn't so far and havn't needed to either so just use it on the guns!

I've fully upgraded the line tool and plasma cutter now.....wicked guns! 8) Line tool is damn powerful and cuts through everything.

You can use nodes on a few locked doors as thats is the only way you can get into them. They are normally loaded with goodies...so upto you if you want extras or save the nodes for upgrades.

I've just downloaded the 360 exclusive 'Elite' suit for xbox live!...looks wicked!! 8) :thumleft:

right...gona get back to stamping on mutant babies heads....

 11.5 hours in now..love it!....the 'twinkle twinkle little star music' in the 10 mission is brilliant!....very atmospheric....love this game.

Its supposed to be brutally hard on the hardest setting (unlocked when you complete it)...so I'll give that a go next! 8) :thumleft:

Been playing it at night, in the dark, with surround sound headphones.....sounds AMAZING!...definately the way to play it!

Maybe. :-k I havn't sold anything, you dont need to. You can pick up so much stuff.....oh and dont buy ANY saw blades mate....theres 100's of them you can pick up!...I've got about 120 in the safe and carry about 50 on me. ..its good to start off with but later on in the game the aliens are to quick and powerful to use it.

The line gun is the one you wana upgrade quick....damn powerful and rips em to pieces! 8) The force gun is damn good to, up close...and 2nd fire lets rip a powerful mine! 8) ....flamethrower is ok up close.

Damn good game though! :thumleft:

hahahaha! Brilliant!

Honestly dont think its that hard mate. Its not an easy game by any means but not that hard if you play it right....I'm 14 hours in and on the last level (great twist towards the end! :thumleft: ) and only died 3 times so far.

Loved chapter 10...the 'sound effects and music' are brilliant! 8) :thumleft:

Not bugged at all, as it threw me at first as well. What you actually sold was the upgrades that you'd already applied to the plasma cutter (or rather, half their value) as you lose those power nodes. It would be nice if you could keep the nodes rather than lose them altogether if I'm honest.

Seriously love this game, although the difficulty jumps big time around Chapter 5 or 6. I love the way it goes for scares that you don't see coming, rather than how D3 did it the obvious way.

I know what you've done because I did it myself last night. You've sold a plasma cutter that you'd upgraded with nodes for half the value of the nodes you used, then bought back the cutter with no nodes for free. #-o

Ironically, I only sold my plasma cutter because I read about you doing it on here!

I sold my saw to get plasma rifle ammo to finish off chapter 6. Now i'm on chapter 7 i've got hardly any credits and no where near enough ammo :( although read a guide and realised i was going the wrong way i think. Thai, i'm guessing you're playing it on hard? I'm on medium and sometimes just find there are way too many monsters! And those tentacle things are NASTY when they grab you!

Told you it was a scary game lol ;)

I'm only on Chapter 3 lol. Really need to dedicate some proper time to playing this game. Not found it hard yet either, but it's early stages yet.

Completed it last night! \:D/

Outstanding game! 8) :thumleft:

Finished it late last night on hard, took me just over 15 hours, you could do it a lot quicker but I was searching everywhere for all the goodies!...if you want those extra nodes/powerups/credits you've gota hunt for em! :thumleft:

The final boss is cool, huge!! 8) Another good plot twist right at the end.........and Matty...the final cut scene WILL give you nightmares mate! ...if you think F.E.A.R was bad...check this! 8)

I cant see how you guys are struggling in the shop with money etc....there's tonnes of it laying around!...you've just gota search for it.

You wont be able to upgrade everything, far from it. They designed it that way.

I fully upgraded the Line Gun (most powerfull weapon! ) and the Force Gun (great at close range...and the mine does a lot of damage too!). The Ripper is damn good fun cos its so brutal and noisey but only close range really (dont buy blades for it cos there is LOADS of them around all throughout the game!)

The Pulse Rifle was too weak without upgrading really. Good for the small little 'slugs' and some great 'facehugger' type creatures in the later levels.

Didn't used the Contact Beam much, not much ammo for it without buying it.

Flamerthrower is good but needs upgrading straight away.

If you want a good variety of weapons I used the Plasma Cutter (great little gun for the smaller creatures!) Line Gun (damn powerfull and your best friend) Ripper and Force Gun.

Stasis is also your best friend...you definately need it later on...you get swams of creatures coming at you (great fun..and damn messy! ) and need the Stasis to stop them.

I beat the final boss with just the Line Gun, put all my other weapons in the safe and just loaded up with med kits and Line Gun ammo. Worked perfectly!...didn't need the med kits though...only got hit twice by the final boss! :thumleft:

I'm playing through it on Impossible difficulty now (unlocked when you complete it)...its A LOT harder for sure!

Overall a wicked game and damn glad it turned out the way it did as I was looking forward to this one all year.

Have to give it 9/10! :thumleft:
