i gotta get optimax too! can't let the fuel sit over night losing valuable ron rating hehe

On this subject - could someone tell me if the following would be a good idea to get the best out of the RR day for me ?:

1. leave filling up till the morning of the RR day
2. Fill up at Lakeside Tesco's (99RON)
3. Add octane booster at same time
4. reset ECU whilst waiting for the others to meet ready for cruise to Engine Advantages.
5. take a "spirited" drive to teach the ECU how i drive - or rather prepare it for the RR on the new fuel and octane booster.

can someone tell me if this is overkill or if it's actually a good idea ?
thanks :-k

i say fill up a bit with tesco 99ron then do a ECU reset the night before then top it up to full with tesco come morning, otherwise knowing you're luck something will go wrong and you won't run at all!

i'm just paranoid about doing stuff like that on the day! lol hence why i'm changing plugs and leads and my oil and filter the night before!

To the best of my knowledge the Tescos 99Ron is still yet to be tested by any R/R tuners that I know of. Until it has been it won't be getting any where near my own cars engine and so i'll be sticking to Optimax for the time being :D

Something else often over looked is making sure that you have the correct tyre pressures. Losses can be the result of under or uneven tyre pressures so it's worth checking!

That aside everything else on your list won't harm a bit good Sir :D

Top banana

So long as you change the oil every 3000 or so miles you should be fine there mate. As for the new ignition components.....always a great idea to be 100% sure that all is as should be before hitting the rollers =D>

i changed my oil only 1000 miles ago but i left the old filter in place as i couldn't get another! so i'm going to be changing my oil and filter this weekend. fresh oil can only help, depends how long it was since you last changed it mate ;)

haha, you still going mate!
lil friendly battle between us then, lol!
both got black rev2s, both running 15psi, both with a/m exhausts.
bar, i have an apexi power intake as well, should be VERY close.

do tyre/wheel sizes make a difference with RR, or is that only drag strips?????

Frank - just fill it with 99 RON - personally I'd for for Optimax or BP Ultimate. Don't add Octane booster, most if it only can lift the octane a few tenths - and when I used some on a trackday it caused loads of detonation - steer clear, and just take it for a blat...

As for the ECU reset - I've done back to back RR sessions and seen no power loss or gain - so I'm not 100% convinced it makes a huge difference.

See you on Sunday bright and Early - I'll be recovering from a Wedding reception the night before :)

If you can, I'd change the oil - after refilling with Mobil1 15W50 my engine always sounded a little better. I'm not sure if it was any more powerful though..

Should be close then! I know whos car will be louder  What power gains is an apexi power intake supposed to give?

How many bl00dy mails have i had like this !

I can;t please everyone all the time - unfortunately my good fellow you were one of the last ones to squeeze in ..., if you had expressed an interest about 2 months ago i guess it would be different (you now know for next year ! lol) .... you went into my little hat (yes i actually wrote out on little bits of paper and drew lots ! )

I can;t please evryone and if I stick you further up the list then someone has to drop down and then they won't be happy

at least you have a start time (ish) so if you wish not to hang about all day you can turn up in the afternoon... anyway's how long does it take for you to get ready to go down the pub ?? - you;'ll be done by 5 easy
