rev1 tubby TBAR - 69,000 miles!

Post by dellams »

Hi Guys,

Due to a change in circumstances I am being forced to sell my 2, below is the desc from the guy I originally bought it off from oc:

"I bought this when I lived in Japan. It was an NA Rev1, suffered from a thirst from oil, and I found a donor with light front end damage to get the engine from. Turned out the engine was a turbo, with about 5k worth of work done to get it past 300FWHP. There was much grinning by the tuner when they discovered the spec. I have tried to keep it as outwardly stock as possible.

The engine was duly transplanted, you can imagine the smile on my face I am sure! Had new cam belt at the time of the transplant, this was two years ago. I moved back to UK last summer and imported it then. Been garaged since Febuary, just had new MOT. 68k miles. Oil changes every 3k

Engine spec:

Turbine: Trust TD05 18G 8.0cm (Running @ 1.1Bar)
ECU: HKS FCON + FCD + SLD + Turbo timer
BOV: HKS SSQV (Recirculation modification)
Intercooler: ARC Type2
Exhaust: JASMA 80Pai & Decat
Fuel pump: Toyota 2JZ genuine (Supra)
Air filter: Trust Airnix
HT leads: Spitfire twin core silicone
Clutch: Clutchmaster Spec 3 (Less than 300 miles on it, needs 500 total to finish breaking in)

Replaced in last 12mth:

Alternator/battery
Both left wheel bearings
Steering wheel (Rev4?)
Gear gator
Speedo - UK spec

Also:

Rev2 refurbished calipers with vented discs
Braided brake lines
LSD
Silkroad Section RM/8 coilover suspension
GAB strut bars *3
Bushes (all but one done)
Front drop links
Tie rod ends
Full geometry setup at TD developments

Exterior:

Lights: Clear corners front / Later type rear lights with 4 tail lights / removed toblerones and fitted clear repeaters
Tinted rear 3/4 and T-bar panels
Front number plate moved down and holes filled
New roof seals for T-Bar fitment (No leaks)
Rev2 wheels w/ Yokohama Grand prix rear & DNA front

Security system with:

Remote start & shutdown
Turbo Timer & shutdown
Silent arm/disarm
Two FOBs & keys

I have maintained this car the very best I can. Not showroom, few chips and touch-ups but looks fantastic. Almost as good as people's faces when they see it's performance!

Negative stuff:

Boot lid rubs a little
Occasionally the rear rear lights go funny when signalling
Exhaust has obvious patch repair. (Sounds deep&serious but not too noisey as many are)

I am definately not a racer and have driven this with respect, letting the engine warm and down properly always, not boosting until well after the temperature gauge reaches centre. Never dropped it on a corner or had any other kind of incident. The Jap tuner (Kaitaiya racing, Matsumoto) wanted to put bigger injectors in and have a remap done for 400BHP, the turbo, intercooler and fuel pump are already there for it. I had other priorities.

This has been a fantastic car for me, I really hope she goes to a good home."

Since I have owned it I have never had any funny business with the rear lights. Unfortunately the gearbox went so this is being replaced next week (at great expence since will be replaced with another LSD box) before it is sold. It has been a dream to drive and handles much better than the stock suspension, it has excellent throttle response with a lot of low down power thanks to the decat as well as the other mods. Along with the other uprated parts and the re-circ SSQV it sounds like the cars in fast and furious! :D

A real nice whoosh and hiss from the uprated air-filter and turbo backed up by the powerful sounding exhaust adds the icing to the cake! :)

It also has a custom sleepy eye front light conversion allowing the motor for the popup lights to be manually controlled so they can be placed at any level.

Im looking for £2,199 ono with the gearbox fixed (does not cover the full cost!) or £1,899 ono as is.

Thanks for looking.
