[Mk2] [Turbo] Best dump valve for rev 2

Post by stu b 1 tubby »

Hi everyone. What is the best dumpvalve for a rev 2. I know some people will say the standard one but are there any that are aftermarket and work well. Thanx :thumleft:

for the TTTssshhhhhhhh noise on a Rev1+2 I think TurboXS Type H and HKS SSQV are the recommended ones.

Be wary of venting to atmos on rev 1/2 as you are dumping metered air which can cause the car to run crap.

But the best dump valve IMO is the Blitz. I have one on my rev 3 :thumleft:

you can get em from www.roguemotorsport.co.uk or www.fensport.co.uk
i paid around £215 for mine its a nice bit of kit really good quality, interchangeable trumpets for different sounds. Its proper loud as well. Dont by this if you wanna keep a low profile  the sound is a long drawn out Tsssshhhh it doesnt "chirp" like the HKS SSQV

Some people find that fittin a vent to atmosphere dump valve on the rev1/2 cars can cause bore wash/stumbling. Its because the rev1/2 cars have an air flow meter, this measures the intaken air and flows the correct amount of fuel accordingly, the problem comes when you dump this METERED air (air thats been recorded as intaken by the AFM) to atmosphere instead of re-circulating it back into the airbox like the oem bov does. The engine will momentarily run super rich which can cause a stumbling idle / poor running even a stall out just after the dump. The rev3 on cars dont have an air flow meter so they cope a bit better with this. You cant re-circ the Blitz but ive heard you can recirc the HKS ssqv.
As REDmr2 says some people experience this problem and others dont so its a bit of a gamble really :thumleft:

The Blitz will fit all rev's of MR2 by the way :thumleft: its only 1 bolt fitment on the intake manifold

Official HKS SSQV. It's been discussed quite a few times. I have one of these myself and have abolustely NO problems what so ever.

Well I ordered a blitz one last night along with a black Avcr from temple tuning.Got a phone call this morning from a lovely lady who said they were out of blitz dump valves and blitz Uk were not getting any for another week :o . But they had a black AVCR which are a nightmare to get hold of at the moment. Now the question is, do I wait for a blitz or go for the HKS.
