My car needs a respray and i'm tempted to go mat black
Re: Anyone on here buy this black mk1 on ebay?
DONT do it chris
I bought a red mk1b with only 90k and fsh with very little rust that had been ruined because of a dodgy matt black paint job, It looks pants, It even had mot and tax yet I only paid 200 GBP for it Im breaking the car now I sold the unmarked leather seats for more than what I paid for the car
so if anyone wants any bits pm me got a really strong engine

There's a black mk1b (F-reg) for sale on IMOC at the moment. Needs a bit of work though.

Yes, it certainly seems like a good price. I would have bought it (or at least gone to view it) except I already have a nice black one now and an SC so really don't need a third mk1.
Re: Anyone on here buy this black mk1 on ebay?
My track car (1a) looks matt black, but it's actually a Vauxhall Pearlecent Black on top and a Ford Graphite Grey on the sides. Unfortunately the grey came out darker once we applied the laquer and it now looks matt - even though it's not
In the right light we sort of see the effect we were after:
But when it's overcast it just looks the same colour all over (matt black):

I went to look at it after seeing the advert on pistonheads.
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/656714.htm
It was in good condition - although it needed (IMO) 4 new tyres, the clutch was right down on the floor and the engine was a bit tappy.
He wanted £1000 when I looked, and I was tempted (mainly due to the colour) who ever got it for £670 got a good bargain.

clutch down to floor = new clutch or dodgy hydraulics doesn't it? When mine gave up, the biting point was very "high", and the new one was "low". It then got lower as the slave cylinder was loose Not arguing jus wondered

£670! I would have paid that! Not sure the missus would agree with me having two black MK1b's!
It was on ebay back in June, the owner at that time mentioned the release bearing was an issue.

Re: Anyone on here buy this black mk1 on ebay?
It looks like the seller (Car sourcing. com) may have lost money on this car if they sorted the clutch issue then... Or if they didn't touch it, made £70.00 in a relative short amount of time.
Hardly worth the hassel IMO

Where would you have brought it from?
Or do you mean bought?

I was looking at this and was tempted but the seller didn't responded to my e-mail. I too saw the previous seller mention a possible release bearing issue, that put me off. Although the description didn't necessary point to the release bearing, chances are the seller never fixed it.
